******UPDATE*******
So, I brought the Terrain in this AM. I figured with all the snow (18 inches) they may have a light day there today. I was right. I was the first one in 30 mins after they opened.
Aside from not giving me an AWD or to a lesser extent an SUV for a loaner, things went OK. More on that later. The advisor set me up in the system and then proceeded to show me all TSB for the vehicle.
The Campaign 09333 for the EVAP canister was the initial self diagnosis. We then found one for Chemical damage in the gas tank (Campaign 10009), She said they would look into both for me.
Three hours later I get the phone call. They smelled the gas in the cabin and down in the wheel well were I told them. They proceeded to clamp off the fuel line from the tank. The fuel pump sends the gas through the line with 60 lbs of pressure she said to a secondary pump up near the engine. That pump sends the gas into the manifold with 600 lbs of pressure.
So, with the existing gas in the line they looked for leaks up front b/c the smell was eminating from there. Nothing leaking from the fuel pump intake. However, from the secondary fuel pump there is piping that runs along the manifold and I guess leads to the fuel rail and direct injection ports.
The pipe on the left side had a leak. It was leaking onto the manifold. They didn’t have the part but are getting on from Philly. Hopefully will be fixed by tomorrow. IF not Monday. They will not give it back to me b/c the engine is apart…manifold is off.
I told them this is my family vehicle and I need it for the weekend. The Enterprise rental car rep said he would look for an SUV for me and replace it out. Very accommodating.
