Engine and SLT-2 Question

Had long talk with my dealer today about my custom GMC Terrain order and the only thing I find shaky about his arguments is that the Chrome Appearance Package (chrome door handles, luggage rail inserts, grille, mirrors and body-color bumpers with chrome rear skid plates) on the SLT-2 is ONLY possible if the car is ordered with a V6 engine. Is this true? Because I like the chrome, but fuel economy with the 4-cylinder is my priority here.

He is a liar. You can get an SLT2 with the 4cyl.

There are two different chrome wheel options which I discovered by finding two 4cyl Terrains with chrome wheels at two different dealers. The plastic chrome-clad ($900 upgrade for the set) can only come with a V6. The true chrome covered wheel (rare...and a $3600 option) can come with a 4cyl or V6. So, it's true that to get the chrome-clad ($900) wheels you must also order a V6 because, I've been told, the bolt pattern and/or offset are different for the chrome-clad wheels. The true chrome covered $3600 wheels (yes $900 per wheel) you can get with any option and they match the bolt pattern and offset of the 18" on the SLT.
He is not talking about wheels, but the Chrome Package... mirrors... door handles...front grille .. etc...

But you are correct about the wheels if he is including them in the "chrome package" def.

The chrome 'appearance' package came as 'standard' equipment on our 4 cyl Equinox LTZ...an option on other Equinox models. It should be the same on the Terrain SLT-2...as standard equipment..whether 4 or 6 cyl.
I'm assuming that you are talking about the chrome door handles...roofrail inserts.....mirrors...and grill(Terrain).
Sooo.....Another twist in the chrome clad wheel issue. The bolt pattern is different on them and will NOT fit a 4 cylinder???? If this is true I am totally confused. I know you cannot order them on a I4 but still would have thought the bolt pattern, etc would be the same.
The bolt pattern is the same no matter you have a 4cyl or 6cyl, awd or not.

I'm with you. I really doubt there is a different bolt pattern used on the 6 cyl.
It is doubtful there is a different bolt pattern V6 vs 4cyl, but that is what someone told me as to the V6-option-specific requirement to get the clad wheels. Perhaps there are owners of both 4cyl and V6 w/chrome-clad that could meet up and try the fitment. It makes no sense to require a V6 for the lower profile 19" wheels otherwise.
I have a V-6 SLT2 that came with the $900 19" chrome wheels. I purchased a set of Terrain 18" wheels and tires on E-bay for winter use and both sets of wheels are interchangable.
Same here.

I'm not sure I got a "custom Terrain". Was wondering exactly what makes a terrain a true custom?? Oh well, maybe next time!
There is no such thing as a "Custom" trim level Terrain. "Customized" by the dealer, perhaps. However it is custom in that you selected the options on the vehicle before assembly.
I just checked tirerack.com and there are no differences in bolt patterns. The options doesn't show any difference between 4-6 cyl vehicle, just FWD/AWD, but they are the same bolt pattern, 5x120. The only difference is the backspacing on the different wheels. They range between 5.8 to 6.2" b/s.
