It was almost instantly when the light came on that the engine started acting up. From what I know, it seems that the software update really only affect certain build dates, etc., so it may/may not be for you, but I would ask and see if they checked for an available update if mine sounds similar to yours.
Scratch my earlier post- My check engine light came back on AGAIN today. This time it happened just like yours did, I stopped at the mail box down the street, got back in car, started just fine, idled just fine, after running for a few seconds I put it in drive and applied gas, and it almost died. Looked down, and the light was on. Pushed the OnStar button and they ran diagnostic, gave me same description as the other two times the light has come on, so I'm assuming it's the P0011 code again. This will be my third visit to the dealer since July 1st, all for the same exact thing. The first time, the pulled the code and lied to me saying they did a software update. The light came on the next day, weekend of July 4th, so my appt was several days later.
The second time, they pulled the code and ACTUALLY did the software update, this is when it surfaced that I was lied to. I spoke with the service manager and said, "So, this should work right?" "Oh yea, you'll be just fine now, that light is not going to come on again." "So this time you actually did the update, and I'm good to go. Well, unless it comes on tomorrow, right?" He looked at me funny and said, "oh no, that's not gonna happen. If THAT happened, then there is something much deeper wrong with it and I would have to keep it for several days, and actually I'd call a GM Engineer to come look at it."
That is quite literally what he said. So, I'm holding him to that. I plan on being the first person in line, waiting at the door at 7 AM when they open. And I'm only talking to the girl at the front desk long enough to say, "Can I please speak to the service manager?"
FIFTH service visit since I've owned the car, for 14 weeks. THIRD service visit in 12 days. How much are lemons going for these days?? :banghead:
