Depending on price, and feedback on the experience of the drive train in the Lacrosse and '12 Malibu, I would consider trading for it. Hope they really get the EPA quoted mileage - time will tell.

Coming for model year 2014; claiming 38 mpg
Thoughts?
Yes and the EPA on the 2010 - 2012 is 32MPG but with rare exception and perfect conditions the only way you can get 32MPG is over a cliff!

GM will have to do something in order to compete with the competition.

Does that make it classify as a hybrid? I like hybrid, I just don't like the price tag.

According to a YouTube video, Eassist is not classified as a hybrid. It runs with a smaller battery and is used mainly to start the car after a stop at a light or to add extra power such as going up a hill. Which means that the car is never just powered by the hybrid system.

In the Buick LaCross, when you order the four cylinder, you will get Eassist.
