I noticed that in my Equinox manual under Lighting (Daytime Running Lamps) that quote" To idle your vehicle with the DRL off, move the shift lever to P (Park). The DRL will stay off until the shift lever is moved out of the P (Park) position".
Mine has never done this. I would like it to do this.
Is this a service dept. issue? All other electrics work as they say.

DRL's on the Nox in Canada are on as soon as the ignition is on. Some GM vehicles like my '00 Malibu went on as soon as the shifter was moved out of "park". The '99 Transsport DRL's were also on with ignition.

DRL's have been mandatory in Canada for at least 10 years and I'm happy about that since on the hwy. it's a lot easier to decide if a vehicle is coming at you or going the same direction as you in the daytime.

When we start our GM vehicles in the garage the DRL's come on and then since it's not bright enough in there, the auto headlamps come on until the vehicles are backed out of the garage.

Do other manufacturer's put auto headlights/tail lights on their vehicles?

That is not the issue. Sure the DRL go off when it gets dark enough for the headlights to come on. It's the put it in park and the drl should go off issue. :)
I know it's not the "issue" just making a joke. I checked today and when I put my Nox in park the DRL's do not go off. Also, They do NOT go off when the parking brake is engaged. My Saturn LS1 was the same way as the Nox except when you engage the parking brake the DRL's would go off. On the Saturn VUE the DRL's would go off when you put it into park. The Saturns also had a light on when the DRL's were active .. The NOX does not. So their is no issue .. WAD (Working as Designed)

Now my question would be if the manual says they are supposed to go off and they do not can we take to dealer and make them fix it? Everthing in the manual tells how everything is supposed to work/operate so therefore I would think that it would be considered as "Working as Designed".
Will be going to dealer sometime next week and will confront them with this issue. I'll let you know if they give me the "WAD" answer.

Looked in the manual and says they should not work if in park like you said. Good Find! If it's more than a software update (That would have to be coded and the software sent to dealers) I doubt they would have a fix or bother to do so. I don't think it is something they can just fix.
