I have seen two different T-connectors. One has a "circuit protected Modulite" and you have to run a positive wire to the battery. The other doesn't. Do I actually need a circuit protected wiring harness?
I don't see why you would. I've never had a vehicle with one that is circuit protected. I'm sure it's just a way of making a little more money. The regular harness will be tied into the taillights fuse anyway, so technically it will be circuit protected regardless.
If the fuses for the taillights were between the Body Control Module and the lights then you could rely on the fuses. But they aren't and I would get an isolation module just to keep the trailer from affecting the car electronics.
