After having checked my oil and it being 2 quarts low (barely registering on the dip stick) I took it to the dealership. They said the cam bearings are worn down. I did a search online and there are a lot of people that have noticed there oil is about 2 quarts low. I'm not sure if it burns it or wasn't full from the factory. GM is repairing my car, but on "good faith" whatecer that means.

It would be nice to know if you have an I4 or a V6.

On my first oil change I was low, since then I haven't had any problems.

I change my own oil so I know what and how much goes in. I Check regularly.
I've heard too many horror storys about dealer oil changes, no oil, loose drain plug, too much oil, too little oil, not syn as requested, etc. etc. and of course--cost. Costs me about a third of what a dealer charges.

In the manual it says that their is a low oil level notification (This is in addition to the pressure). Did it ever come on? It would be a DIC message. From the manual:

Engine Oil Low – Add Oil
This message displays when the
engine oil level is too low. Check the
oil level.

I checked mine. It was low 1 litre. I have 5000 klm and I am at 50% oil life remaining.(just got monthly Onstar report) Dont they check oil level as part of the PDI at the dealership?(pre delivery inspection)

Manual says to add 1 litre if level is below crosshatched area on dipstick.
