Has anyone run into this issue? Started last week out of the blue.

I was hanging crown molding on a day off. My phone was on my hip. MY truck with all the windows down was parked 20 ft away. The car had been off for over an hour. All of a sudden I hear the phone ringing in the truck. I was like WTF?? Thought it was a one time thing. Happened again the next day when I was outside playing with my boys. Finally, on Thursday night I was on my couch and my phone vibrates and I answer to nothing but get the selection screen on my Iphone. I select Iphone and the person was there. That means it was ringing in my truck.

The next morning I go into configure screen and delete my Iphone and deleted my wife's old phone. When I go back to "add new phone" on the list, it thinks for 5-10 seconds and a second transparent gray screen pops up that says "Bluetooth failure." I am thinking its the module in the car.

Today I went to my wifes Altima and erased everything and reconnected both Iphones no problem. My neighbor was out and I went over. His has an '11 Lacrosse with the works. We tried it on his. We get to "Add new phone" and it goes to the pairing screen. I activate BT on the Iphone and it recognizes the car. Type in the PIN and hit Pair. Iphone goes back to Bluetooth setting screen and the Nav Screen shows "Bluetooth failure." We check and his phone is perfectly fine and works.

Now I am totally confused. Thinks its my module, but I got the same "Bluetooth failure" error on both but at least he could go through the screens on his.

It a 2010 Terrain with factory NAV and a Verizon Iphone 4 with up to date software.

Can anyone offer any help?

Probably take it to dealer on Tuesday.

I think others have reported issues with the Verizon iPhones...no idea why they would be any different than a regular iPhone, but ya know, that's technology for ya.

Here ya go- from the gm.com/bluetooth website - "An issue with intermittent Bluetooth disconnects between the Apple iPhone 4 and some GM vehicles has been identified. GM and Apple are actively working on a solution. As a result of the issue you may experience no audio in the vehicle for incoming and outgoing calls. When this occurs the Bluetooth system will say: "Unable to place call on your Bluetooth phone." The website will be updated as soon as more information becomes available."

I know that's not the error you're getting, but it could be a factor...

I had the same problem. I was in the house and discovered that my Samsung phone was still connected via Bluetooth to the car. After experimenting to resolve the problem I found the only way to disconnect was to disable Bluetooth on my phone. I then tried unpairing my phone and car. But then when I tried to repair, the car would give ma a Failure To Pair as soon as it told me to search for a new Bluetooth device on my phone. I tried two other phones and nothing would pair. I found elseware on this forum that there is a service bulletin. PI0285 that is supposed to fix about 30 issues with the radio. I had the dealer install the upgrade. That fixed the Bluetooth problem, at least for now, but generated a few more problems. now the GPS reverts to Washington DC every time I want to program a new destination and I have to set the state again and the GPS loses the destination if I turn off the ignition to stop for gas. Good luck.

That is funny. I forgot to mention I had the update done b/c I had NAv issues, time issues, etc.

Ever since the reflash, i have had phone problems. Total opposite of you.

I am hoping the Bluetooth module is a separate unit and is fried or something. I use the bluetooth everyday. It would really suck not to have it.

I don't think it is a Verizon Iphone issue b/c I had the phone since the day it came out in February, I think. Never once had connectivity issues at all. Always rock solid and never had problems pairing. Very strange to just happen one day. Then again, all the NAV and time issues just cropped up one day. The computers are revolting against the humans!!!!

Sounds like a sci-fi movie.

I don't believe the carrier (Verizon, AT&T) to be an issue since both phones would ultimately be using the same bluetooth radio. However, I CAN say that since my most recent iPhone update, the bluetooth connectivity has been working flawlessly. I am glad to hear that GM is aware of this issue and working on a solution. For now, I'm afraid to perform another update on my phone for fear it may stop working again. Also, my phone is working WITH the phone book sync enabled.

In reference to the first poster. It seems strange your phone would still be connected and be able to power up the in dash unit if you had already taken the key out and opened the driver's side door. hmmmmmm.....

Well, it took a week to get an appointment but I got one. Had them do an oil change as well.

The fix was really simple it seemed. I was the second person to bring it in for the issue so they had already spoken to GM and OnStar regarding this.

To cut to the chase...it was a computer malfunction and it needed to be rebooted.

The technical breakdown was as follows (don;t quote me on this b/c I was told this over the phone.....

THe bluetooth and OnStar module share the same VCIM(don't know what that is). The OnStar module got caught in a "logic loop" and would not allow the bluetooth to release. That is why it always stayed connected even after I shut down and the door was opened. I assume if I tried to use OnStar it would have been inoperable as well.

They rebooted it and everyhting is back to normal. Hope this helps anyone else who might run across it as well.

Have been caught in living life and being happy as a clam with my 2010 Terrain so haven't been to the Forum in ages!!!; did a search of topics on the bluetooth issues & decided to add my experience to this thread.
About 3 weeks ago funny business started with my Verizon phone & car BT. First BT wouldn't disconnect when the car was parked in the garage so when my cell rang I had to go sit in the car to talk to the caller since the audio was running only through the car radio. I deleted this paired phone thinking that I just needed to go through the pairing process again; found that the only way I could pair was following the voice recogniton pairing procedure (which I had not used in the past). That restored the BT functionality (car & phone again working together.)
Worked for 2 wks until I got my IPhone 4 & can't pair the phone at all. Phone searches for the car BT & can't find it. Waiting for a call back from the dealer to make an appt. Anything you all can suggest I tell the dealer to help them in servicing my issues would be fantastic & I can go back to living life happy as a clam!!! Must have BT as hands free is the law here in Illinois & I drive Chicago tollways 600 miles a week.

If this happens to anyone else all you have to do is unhook your battery for 2 minutes and you'll be good to go.
