So I didn't like the gold chevy bowtie emblems and decided to black them out. I think it turned out great and already got a compliment on them. What do you guys think?

I think that what you've done turned out well. I kinda doubt it would look very good on a non-black NOX, but yours is cool.

I have mixed feelings about the 'gold-mesh' look. well, I don't like it, but I'm hoping that I'll grow to like it someday.
Very nice!

Looks nice

Did you go w/ vinyl overlays or paint them up? Since you blacked those out, you should do the emblems on the rims as well
Very nice.

Good look.

Welcome aboard.
Very cool. I'd only done something shiny, instead of the flat black. Match the paint on the rest of the 'Nox.
Much better than stock !! However, I still think it would look best to just remove the emblems.
Thanks guys. I went with a vinyl overlay because I wanted to easily remove it without any damage. I didn't see any for sale online so I went to Hobby Lobby and bought two sheets of black all weather vinyl and a brand new x-acto knife, all for under 5 bucks. We have had the car since the beginning of March and I wash it once a week and their is no sign of wear so far. Overall I am happy.

I thought about doing the wheels as well but they are so small I am not going to worry about it. Besides I am sorta in the market for some aftermarket wheels.

I'd tend to agree with Narg.
I prefer shiny to flat, but A+ for effort for sure and all for less than $5 bucks to boot!
Thanks for sharing the pics, Zinc Stang.
I love the black bow ties, just as you have done them! It certainly gives the Nox a classy look. However, and this is just my opinion, the thingy hanging from the inside mirror, seen through the windshield, robs from the classy look you've worked so hard for on the exterior. Please don't be offended, it's only one guy's opinion.
The Black-out emblems look great! Clever approach. Nothing beats easy "undo" ability :)

Your idea is catching. I was driving down 35 today and I saw a red equinox who changed his emblem to red

I looked for the "black all weather vinyl" at the local Hobby Lobby and they thought I was smoking crack. They searched high and low and nothing. Any suggestions for another source?

Smoking Crack is bad......Try going when not smoking, might get better results ;)

Or Try E-Bay. I'm sure if you measured it, you could find some already cut......Its a popular modification and has been for decades.
I gotta quit smoking that stuff before I go shopping. It cloud my judgement :>) Thanks, I will check out E bay.
The blacked out bowtie looks great with the Black granite color....I think it might not look as good with my Silver Ice metallic or any other color.

Any luck in your search?
You inspired me to do something similar...I have a black 2LT as well and I am going to use a Black Carbon Fiber decal to cover up the yellow bow-tie. Ill post some pics later. P.S. if anyone is also interested in doing this I bought the carbon fiber decal in a sheet on ebay for $10
Ohh that sounds neat! My boyfriend would LOVE that. He's pretty much obsessed with anything carbon fiber related. We look forward to pictures :).

p.s. I saw this same blacked out emblem on a yellow Camaro. It looked ok...but since the grill is already black the emblem just disappeared into it...looks better on your Equinox!
