Black or Black Graphite Metallic??

Hi!!! I am new here. Stumbled across this forum. I am ordering a 2011 2LT Equinox tomorrow. It will be a FWD with a V-6 engine. I am getting the black leather interior. But........I just can't decide on the exterior color. I love a black car.....but when I saw the black graphite metallic, I liked that also. They are so similar.....and yet slightly different in the sun. I currently have a jet black 2004 Monte Carlo, and was sold on the black, but the metallic is good looking. I have changed my mind so many times......tomorrow I seal the deal and need to pick the color. A friend said the metallic would not show scratches and dirt so quickly? What do you think? Thanks!!

Hi and Welcome to the forum. I have a Cyber Gray Metallic Terrain. Would have gone with the Metallic black but they were in short supply. Metallic finishes definitely hide scratches and dirt better. I saw a jet black non-metallic Terrain the other day and you couldn't see the paint for the swirl marks. Definitely go metallic. It looks better and pops in the right light. Congrats on the new addition.
As you may already be aware, the Carbon Black Metallic costs more.
I did not know it would cost more. Thanks!! I think I will still plan to get the metallic finish. Hope they don't charge me too much more.

My wife wanted black after we drove one. That would have been awful IMO, from care standpoint. We "compromised" on metallic black. Or I should say I compromised: I got a little less anxiety about upkeep, while she actually got more than she originally wanted, it really does look sharper than straight black to almost every beholder.

It's gonna be maybe $150 more (is actually an official option, with a suggested additional MSRP of $195-- only color like that)
The carbon metallic was my 3rd choice. and it was the only vehicle that had everything I wanted that was available. I didnt want black. I have a black vehicle now, and know how hard it is to keep clean. But I went with the Metallic, and I think it really looks great. So far it doesnt seem as bad as the black vehicle. Since you are already have a black finish vehicle, you know how it is. To me the metallic is worth the extra..
Black Metallic! couldn't be happier with mine! It looks the best when its clean for sure!
Well, I wasn't able to make it in to the dealership today, so I will go in tomorrow and approve everything, that I want ordered, on this vehicle. I did ask, on the phone, if there was an extra charge for the metallic finish.......and he said NO!!!!!

Hey, I'm not arguing. I do love my jet black car that I have right now, though.

Same here, I wanted silver cuz I knew, no matter what she said, that I'd be the one cleaning it LOL!
Carbon Black Metallic (as are most metallics, for that matter) is awesome in the sun, shade or at night, IMO!
Congrats and enjoy your new ride, sunnysue!
Welcome to the site, too!

OMG I guess we are all the same because I could have typed the exact same post.......Im exhausted trying to explain to the wife that although black looks the nicest when its clean, it takes a lot of work to get it there.

But who cares because she will never be doing it, I will.

Carbon Black Metallic is a very nice colour, the silvers look good to. I like it when the wheel colour matches the vehicle.

Another vote for Carbon Black Metallic!
My vote is for good ol' Onyx Black. The Carbon Black Metallic reminded me of the paint on the bumper cars at the fall fair. A chacun son gout.

Now if only GM offered factory matte paint like Mercedes, that would be something.
Ive had BOTH colors (Onyx on my 00 Formula and BGM on our 09 Malibu) and the Granite was FAR easier to keep clean. Even when it was dirty, it just looked a tad lighter shade of black not dirty. Very easy to keep clean looking.
Thanks for all the great replies. I know that the black graphite metallic is really beautiful......but, I currently have a dark black car, and I love the dark black, so I decided to order the black. Can't wait to get it!!!
I've got the Black Graphite Metallic on my Terrain...looks 1000 times better then plain black, and yes it was an additional charge...
