bigb, interesting that GM uses the term generator rather than alternator as the alternator has been the industry norm for at least 50 years, I believe Chrysler Corp. first introduced them in their automotive line. I'm old, grew up on a farm where all the equipment had generators, and they had a little oil cup on the front bearing nearest the drive pulley, 3 drops of light lubricating oil was all it would take, one more maintenance item to remember, but I don't ever remember a generator failure.
