Bad speaker

Will ANC be affected if one of the speakers goes bad? My passenger side rear has a big base sound vibration even though I have not added any base

The rear as in the passenger side door? Or the trunk?
It would have to be the door. The big thing in the cargo area is not really a speaker that is to be heard will listening to the radio. I believe it is part of the ANC.
I also spelled base wrong, should be bass.
The speaker in the cargo area panel on the passenger side is a sub-woofer, connected to the radio and amplifier. Even if you took a lot of bass out of the sound, the speaker will still output some sound. It's where the ANC noise is sent also. If that speaker is damaged, yes the ANC will also be affected.
ANC is accomplished through the subwoofer only if I understand correctly since it's low frequencies that need to be cancelled. If I'm correct ANC is only available with the Pioneer system since it has the subwoofer and the digital amp.
So I guess the bass vibration (distortion) in the rear passenger door speaker does not affect the purpose of the ANC. Just get it replaced under warranty. I am guessing that the oem speakers are junk anyhow. I probably should bite the bullit and upgrade to something better. I did not order this Nox so had no option for an upgraded radio/stereo system.

I hate to say it but I'm pretty sure unless you have the optional Pioneer system you don't have ANC. The way to tell is if the front door speakers have "Pioneer" emblems on them.

But if you have a bad speaker regardless of the type of sound system you have then get it replaced under warranty for sure. We had one fail in our 1999 Montana van and they replaced it under warranty.

If you have the standard sound system then you might be able to get some decent after-market equipment for it. However I found that the sound quality of the Pioneer system is quite good and I would have to spend big $ to make it pound out better sound.
ANC is on all 4cyl equipped 2010 Terrains and Equinoxes. For detailed ANC info... http://www.sandyblogs.com/techlink/2009/10/active-noise-cancellation----2010-equinoxterrain.html

Quote: Vehicles equipped with the base-level audio system (RPO UW6) and ANC (RPO VQN) will have a subwoofer in the rear compartment. The subwoofer is necessary for ANC operation and is used only for ANC on vehicles equipped with the base-level audio system. With UW6, no CD or radio audio output will come out of the subwoofer (strictly dedicated for ANC).
Wow you learn something new everyday. I could of sworn I sat in a 2010 Terrain at the dealer with the base audio system that had no mesh grill where the subwoofer would be. So I would assume no subwoofer.
"The subwoofer is not working

So basically, the sub is there, but only for ANC not for the radio.
The ANC uses the subwoofer and front door speakers ONLY.

The ANC is on ALL I4 engines....regardless of audio system.

If you were to tear everything apart you'd see the base system also has an amp...just no gain.
All I4 vehicles also have a subwoofer...the sub only works for music when you have the Pioneer branded speakers.
