Auto Stop Stopped Stopping?

Curious to know if anyone else’s auto stop has stopped working? After my last service appointment last month, when I stop at red lights or stop signs, my auto stop doesn’t engage (not that I’m complaining). Just curious to know if this has happened to anyone else - mines a 2018 1.6L diesel premier.

I own a pre-AutoStartStop vehicle, but check your Owner’s Manual … there are multiple conditions that will automatically disable AutoStartStop … like having the AC running.

And maybe the Diesel model has additional disablers…

I know from experience that a weak battery will prevent the stop-start from activating. If you still have the original battery, it's past it's prime. If it's like the one that I had in my '18 Terrain Denali it's only rated for 36 months, calculated to die outside the B2B warranty.

Yup.. my sister's car did that stopped-auto-stopping and 2 weeks later or so the battery died totally. So take this as a warning that yo need to change your battery...(though there are other things that will prevent it from auto-stopping like a bad hood latch or AC in full blast or issue with seat belt sensor or some CEL code) and oh in the diesel...when it is regenerating it will not autostop

Now that you mention it, I have the original battery lol. Never occurred to me and the dealer has never mentioned it during service visits.

Don't trust the dealership to keep track of what to change...track when you have to change your air filter, fuel filter, flush your radiator, change your transmission oil, change your battery, rotate your tires, check brake pads etc. They are not the ones who will be stuck on a dirt road somewhere on a cold morning. Anyways for our diesel original battery was still working but just before its 5th winter i changed it as i did not want to get stuck in the cold one early morning when i badly need to go somewhere. Some people have been lucky that their battery lasted for 7 years...4.5 to 5 is good for me and i don't want the risk of being stuck in a life endangering situation.

Just as a battery FYI the OEM battery in my '16 only lasted 3 years.
My 18 doesn't shut off with A/C on. If you stop very slowly it doesn't shut off.
Now our 2023 TB Activ AWD is much different than our 18 Equinox. You can pull up it shuts off, if you keep your foot on the brake. You can put it in & out of park without it starting. Our TB works better I think. But I don't mind it. I've tried to release the brake and step on the throttle before it starts, no possible for me. Our Equinox has over 120k replaced battery at 3 years, starter is solid. Auto start hasn't effected anything in the car.
