Quick question about the auto lights. I'm still waiting on my Terrain situation (see my other post :p), but I've read pretty much every post on here. My question is with the Auto Headlight feature. I've never had this feature on any of my vehicles before and right now I have a rental 2009 Nissan Altima that has that feature. The one thing I found annoying with it is that when set to Auto and the lights come on, they dont go back off when I turn off the car. I even sat outside and waited 5 minutes, and they stayed on.

So does the Terrain shut the lights off, or do you have to do that manually?

Thanks

Not to mention, you can change this setting easily in the vehicle. in the options screen, you can specify if you want the light to stay on and for how long. If it annoys you, it's easily enough shut off.

I think the default is 30 seconds but scottyyyc is correct, you can adjust this setting in the vehicle configuration.

Seeing as I was just playing with it this morning, you can set it to OFF, 30 Sec, 1 Min, and 2 MIN, I seem to remember.

You can set how long the exterior lights stay on in the Configuration screens on the Terrain.

Code:
Exit Lighting

This allows the selection of how long the exterior lamps stay on when leaving the vehicle when it is dark outside.

Turn the knob to select Off, 30 Seconds, 1 Minute or 2 Minutes

Edit - I am too slow. lol

I forgot that was an option, so thanks for the reminder! Now if only they would have made the Auto light DRL optional. I'm planning on asking the dealer if that can be turned off.

I always install brighter bulbs so I don't want them on more than they need to be in order to maintain their life as long as possible, which means in the Terrain I have to turn them off each time I get in the car. I'm also looking into installing HID which I wouldn't want running DRL either if I can help it.

If you have your fog lights set to on and your headlights to auto, do the foglights always stay on, or only come on when your headlights come on at night?

We set ours to 2 minutes. Very cool feature. Both GM and Ford have really raised the game on vehicle electronic ability over the past few years. Ever since my 2000 Silverado had auto head lights I hated having to drive something else where I had to remember to turn them on AND OFF!
