Any word on what to expect with 2012 Terrains?

I know that 2011 has barely started, but for someone like me who probably won't purchase until later in the year, any rumblings on what to expect for the 2012 model year?

Probably a new color or two and possibly some new wheel choices. I wouldn't expect much more than that.
Agree. There won't be any major changes. GMC has a couple of other models that will be getting the much needed focus for 2012 before the Terrain will see any changes.
Considering the Acadia is 3 years old and will likely see a mid cycle refresher next year, plus the Yukon needs some attention and GMC loses it's small pick up so it will most likely be 2013 before we see any major alterations to the Terrain.
Just in case anyone is interested... found this image in the 2012 order guide for the Terrain. These are the new 18" chrome clad wheels that will be standard on SLT-2. Page 30 if you download the guide.

Not much else new on the '12s... the new standard 7" colour screen on the radios looks great and the nav-equipped models support SD cards as well.

Do you have the link to the guide?

You have to select "Print Book", then print model to load the pdf.
Yes in 2012 models you can encounter much worse headache than 2011.

I don't follow... can you elaborate?
Will the 2012 Terrains have intellilink and the touch screen LCDs like the 2012 Equinox?

When is expected release date, and at what point during release am I able to go to a dealership and actually request they order me one?

Thanks for the help!

ALL Terrain trim levels will get the large colour screen, so I imagine "Intellilink" will be part of that. Navigation will still be an add-on however.

Not sure when you will be able to order a '12. Probably sometime towards the end of July. If you walk into a dealership now they might lie and tell you they 'don't know' in order to get you to buy an '11.

Both the 2012 Equinox and Terrain are available with the Audio system with navigation, AM/FM/XM stereo with CD player, 7-inch touch-screen Color Interface Display (CID), GPS navigation system, SD memory card, USB port, MP3 playback capability, Radio Data System (RDS), speed-compensated volume, auxiliary input jack and outside temperature display. The 2012 Equinox and 2012 Terrain are scheduled to start production July 18th. The amount of time from start up to arrival to dealer lots is approximately 6 - 8 weeks. If you are looking to place an order, I would recommend contacting your local dealership for more specific information about when the vehicles are available to order. Thank you and good luck with your purchase.

I've been told that the new Terrains will have the Intellilink features on their navigation systems. Is there any way to buy the software upgrade for the 2011 Terrain navigations?
So it looks like they're taking away my favorite color Cyber Gray...

Any idea if any new colors are being added to make up for it?

I would recommend that you contact your local dealership for more information. They are the best resource to let you know whether or not an upgrade is possible. Please feel free to keep me posted. Thank you.

If I were to guess I would think that an upgrade would not be possible... I believe the physical buttons are different between the systems. I, for one, can't wait to see what features will be available with the new system. I could care less about Pandora or Slacker (or whatever it is) but I would like to see bluetooth streaming audio, better integration with mobile phonebooks (like to see the name of the caller, not the number), and a slew of other features that make use of the large screen.

@ Chevrolet Customer Service... you sound like a broken record lol. An 'informed' consumer will do his/her research in advance of attending the dealership, instead of simply relying on the word of the dealer. Automotive dealership employees aren't exactly known for their stellar personal integrity.
Currently emailing all the GMC dealers in town asking for them to contact me once pricing and ordering information is available. Its funny how much some dealers have just straight up lied to me already. In general replies saying, yeah we can go ahead and order it, call me and come on down we'll price it out for you, delivery would be in 6 weeks. There's no way they actually have pricing yet, and there's no way I'd see a vehicle in 6 weeks. Its funny when I start telling THEM about whats going on with the 2012 Terrains, haha.

Oohh well, once they realize I know what's up, hopefully I'll be the first to be contacted when they have some more legitimate info for me.
I went to a GM conference this morning at the Naperville IL GM building.

I will break down everything they told us...

First, SLE1 Models will increase in price to roughly $26,300 MSRP.

Added to the SLE1 will be Bluetooth, Touch screen Radio, and a blind spot mirror.

As far as other pricing, should not change as much as the SLE1 if at all compared to late model 2011 pricing.

Side Blindzone alert will be available.

The big thing is the value Navigation which will only cost around $800 MSRP. The more expensive option is standard with the rear seat DVD system.

18" Chrome wheels are available with the 4cyl models.

They cut a couple colors and added a few others, but I think others already discussed this.

Great info !
Has it been said what the NEW colors will be?

Really sad about Cyber Gray being deleted :-\
