Hey guys I am waiting any day for my terrain to show up. GMC says off the truck on the 1st. slt2 v6 nav everything but the rear dvd that GMC forgot to put in there. I have been researching screens for the head rest and like these

http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/pkg-m780

but wanted to know if tying into the main nav system would be difficult. I know the nav has the dvd player already in there and the system allows you to choose which screen gets what from the nav but dont know if there is anything special interface wise that would need to be done or if i can just tie these into the system. I have searched online and found the stereo breakdown but cant find how where to hook these up. Thanks for the info ahead of time.

I doubt those screens will have the full integration with the GM system, I suppose the NAV has an ext input in the form of RCA connectors so it should be relatively easy but I don't know what you'll miss.. If I was in your socks I'd wait until you get the one you like or if you're like me you're never going to like it cause it was not what you really wanted in the first place... You're spending a ton of money and now you have to compromise??

I don't like to bring the car in to the "experts" to install anything electronic that can cause electronic gremlins with the car and the warranty will be affected by that... The new cars have enough electronics already to let a HS drop-out to cut/splice/wires that are part of the network (yes new cars have a network with protocol, etc.). I was a car stereo installer and no way I'll let anyone do surgery in my cars (not even me).

No, you won't get any integration. Most after market DVD systems are made to work in any car. So they are often very autonomous in operation. For the price of most worthwhile aftermarket ones, you should have just got the OEM ones. If anything it will keep the value of the vehicle much higher if you ever want to trade up to a newer model. That and the integration with the NAV.

Yeah I had ordered with it. My order print out even lists it but just go tthe call today it is in and does not have the option. I have been waiting since march 22nd so i dont think i can wait that long again. I have done some more research and found that the nav has the dvd player in it and has the connector for the rear dvd so i am just going to have them install the alpines in the headrest and attach the module to recieve signal from the nav. I found on the Acadia and Yukon forums that people have done this in the past just not with this system yet. Thanks for the reply and I will post pics once i get it done.

If your order printout has it,then it is THEIR issue. I see one oftwo things to resolve this....
1 - Have them search every dealer(not just the 50 mile radius) to find the exact specyou want and ship it tothe dealership at their cost..not built into price.
2 - If you have the OEM NAV,if its possible at all, have them order all the remianing OEMparts and install the OEM DVDset up.

I wouldn't accept anything less.

Just picked up my terrain. I got them to eat the cost of the dvd even with my employee discount. They are ordering the parts to tie in the rear dvd monitors that i want and will havethem installed with the nav for factory functionality. I told them if they didnt i wasnt taking the car. They really took care of me as it was clearly their mistake. on another note I love my terrain and am probably gonna be up all night playing with it.
