We are trying to see what options we have to add Bluetooth capabilities to our Stock Radio. Apparently the SLE-2 HAS Bluetooth, but SLE-1 does not. Do you know of any after market kits? Thanks in advance!

There's tons of after-market bluetooth kits for cars, new and old. Usually, they plug into a stereo's Aux input or use FM transmission. Some are better than others, but there are lots of kits. They don't usually work quite as well as the fully factory integrated systems, but they do work with a few more button presses (i.e. if a call comes in, you have to switch to aux. input on your stereo, or change to whatever FM frequency. When they're integrated, you press the answer button, and everything is done for you.

Here's a quick link to PC World's top 10 BT Car kits.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I was just looking at the Parrot systems. They seem to have some nice features. I guess what I'm really looking for is an aftermarket module that will enable Bluetooth on my stock radio. Maybe I'm wishing for too much...

Thank you again!

There likely isn't an add-on component, simply because the higher end system in the SLE2 and above 'sounds' like a completely different unit (i.e. Pioneer vs. 'generic'). Bluetooth will always be a small little chip built directly into the main circuit boards on the radio itself. Short of replacing the whole stereo unit, you're probably out of luck.

That said, you can always keep an eye out for damaged/written off Terrains, and get the better radio unit out of it.

That's interesting. In that case, it's likely the exact same radio, but with the BT disabled. Either way, you can't just add the chip (it's soldered into the board).

Yeah, it would be cool to be able to change it from a woman to man or vice versa. Since we are naming ours "Doug" after the Movie UP, it would be nice to have a male voice...

Funny thing was that in my old Honda, the nav voice was a woman and it took several tries to get her to get the right command down....but it only happened at CERTAIN times of the month... ;D

Obviously, pdxplm's wife does not read his posts or is a VERY understanding woman with a good sense of humor. On the other hand, I've noticed the same problem with my wife acknowledging my commands. Even repetition doesn't seem to work very well. And the update program is extraordinarily expensive.
