I have used this forum to investigate some of the MANY issues I have had with my 2005 Cadillac SRX. It is a beautiful car and most would tell you that Cadillac does sell quality. My story has taken several twists and has worn me to the point of posting some information in hopes of helping others who may experience some mechanical issues with their "beautiful Cady". To shorten the story a bit I will jump quickly to the current time....my vehicle is awaiting a pick up at the dealership. It seems to have spent SO MUCH more time at the dealership or on the back of a flatbed wrecker than at my home in the garage. It has given me the opportunity to test drive MANY other beautiful Cadys....HAHA!! This visit has been for "timing chains" which according to the current district specialist is in NO WAY related to the ECM (which monitors the position of the camshafts on the one bank of the engine and the crankshaft...SERVICE BULLETIN P0009...Incorrect timing chain, stretched timing chain, failed camshaft.....CALIBRATION threshold problem) The TCM was supposedly replaced and/or reprogrammed at the last visit to the dealership. It had already shown trouble codes of "P" which are powertrain, and a U1000 "all loss of communication concerning ground, and serial data circuits” this code is set when the control module does not receive a message that is expected. In other words, it is a critical parameter that has NO identification number to associate with and will ONLY report it once. Then it goes to default......It is the State of Health monitoring. It appears the technicians chose the route of using other modules, and reprogrammed, recalibrated (I actually have 2 sets of part numbers listed as CONTROL MODULES now....one "only if the vehicle is chuggle/ surge between 40-45 MPH” the second, “new calibration for start” WHAT is that all about???) Perhaps....#05524A...Customer Satisfaction ECM EEPROM Excessive Writes reprograms ECM. INSTABILITY???? They even replaced the water pump at that visit. Perhaps it is just a coincidence that the crankshaft just happens to be located "other locations of crankshaft include, the front of the crank on the engine block below or next to the water pump, on the main crank pulley. After reading several other post, I can't help but notice the same patterns regarding the SRX. The pinion seal, the oil, the timing chains, the ECM (REPROGRAM ENGINE CONTROL MODULE ANOMALY #04051), the no starts....it is such a lengthy list who can keep up? I was actually told at one time that my SRX was NOT part of the recalls or "campaigns" for the Rear suspension weld #N060029/06029A or ECM reprogram #07204. This information regarding the recalls was withheld from me until I hired someone to investigate it for me....what a shame. I'm assuming that most are getting the BIG picture by now. Since this began, I have done much research and checking on my own. This research and information combined with the trouble codes that were present and those that were concealed from me during the NO STARTS, leaking oil, check engine light on, NO air intake, P2066, P0008, P0009, P0700, misfires, the lunging then what felt like a BREAK applied from the rear of the car and sudden downshift as I was traveling on the freeway approximately 75mph, and the ULTIMATE.....NO COMMUNICATION between the TCM and ECM after multiple recalibrations and reprogramming s efforts are ALARMING at best. From a diagnostic standpoint, this would be like a physician telling you “I’m sorry Ma’am we have LOST ALL OF YOUR MEDICAL RECORDS, You have had Cancer all along!!” It is my belief that GM and Cadillac are aware of the inequities of the computer communication errors and the effects on the vehicles. After all, they changed their warranty in 2006 to infuse confidence in consumers for their already “beautiful vehicles”. I have come to the following conclusion Cadillac/GM products are NOT SAFE if they are built like my vehicle. The Cadillac customer service professionals are NO longer the stellar or professional individuals they once were. After no less than four district specialists, or the customer service representatives who have NO IDEA about the powertrain, trouble codes, safety products, etc. I have been told “I am not a technician"...."I think we have done all we can”, “I’ll look into it” or “Your car is out of warranty”. LAUGHABLE if only he/she themselves were to put HIS children into that BEAUTIFUL CAR and head down the freeway to the zoo or water park hoping he makes it there today!! This mom is SAD she bought a CADILLAC and in the past an Escalade, Trailblazer, Camaro, and several Bonneville.
8-5-11 This Morning........Interesting little "addendum" I just attached. I located that this morning while checking email. PLEASE, PLEASE, pay attention to the VERY similar details of the problems, the error codes, relationship to parts and GM response. The bulletins for the 2011 SRX look so very much like the details of my vehicle it amazed me! From the very beginning I told the dealership the same things....over and over, and over I am hoping at this point that mostly all Cadillac SRX owners are sitting up and paying attention very carefully!! I would be SCREAMING from the mountain tops to GM/ Cadillac. Best of Luck to all and God Bless.
