I had U-Haul install a 2" receiver hitch on my 2023 Equinox when I purchased the vehicle for both a bike rack and a small carrier. I did not have a trailer so I did not have them install a light kit.
I recently purchased a small 4.5 Ft. X 8 Ft. aluminum trailer to haul bigger items, so I now wanted a light kit in case I want to use my Equinox to pull the trailer. The build sheet does not show a tow package, but research keeps showing that a lot of people have good luck with the factory connector behind the rear bumper. I took a chance and ordered the Curt 56429 harness on Amazon. Installed the kit and the lights work when tested. Have not tried towing yet as I need a drawbar with a riser since the receiver hitch is low to the ground now. Trailer is rated at 2000 Lbs and I do not plan on towing more than a 1000 Lbs with this vehicle.
Just a FYI as it was confusing when checking online if my 2023 LT had a working factory connection or not. Some owners on the internet claim they did not get a working connector .
