2022 Equinox RS badge question

On my Iron Grey RS, the Equinox lettering on the doors has red highlighting, really sets it off nicely against the dark paint. In fact, I am disappointed that the Equinox badge on the rear hatch is just black and am considering adding the red highlighted Equinox lettering.

There are not many other 2022 RS around, I have only seen 2 others locally. However, I was in Pennsylvania a couple weeks ago and there was a black RS in the hotel parking lot. I went over to check it out and was surprised that the door lettering did not have red highlights.

I went on the Chevy build sites to check which colors got the red highlighting on the front door Equinox lettering. They do not show it on any colors but I know the build site is not super accurate. I also browsed pictures online and do not see any red lettering on the front doors in any pictures. Here is a side pic of mine showing the red lettering on the front door so you know I am not imagining things, not the best pic but you can see the red highlighting on the door :

I can understand if the black does not have red highlighting (except for the RS badges themselves - ALL colors have red RS badge), and also the red color would make sense if it was all black as the red would be kind of washed out by the paint job.

I know mine was one of the first off the assembly line so is it possible Chevy stopped using the red lettering after a certain amount of time?

My question for other 2022 RS owners is this: What color is your RS and does your RS have red highlighted lettering on the front doors?

The red badges were traditionally part of the Redline package, however the Redline package is only available on the Premier trim for 2022.

Perhaps yours was built with red badging inadvertently, or has some elements of the Redline package, or the dealer added them. Hard to say. They look really nice regardless of the reason.

Here's a better picture, sorry I was up late the other nite pondering life's mysteries ....... lol

I know the dealer didn't add them as I got there a few minutes after it was offloaded from the truck. I just wish they would have used that same theme on other black lettering on the tailgate.

I'm also fairly sure the build website showed the red lettering when I was checking things before buying the car, but I could be mistaken .

I can tell you with my RS which was delivered to me within 3 weeks of being built last January has All Black "Equinox" on the doors.

I have the Cherry Red Tintcoat

I saw a white 22 RS today and it was all black lettering too. Mine was built Dec 10 and I took delivery on Dec 17, I know it was the first sold by the dealer I got it from, but I don't know where it falls as far as what number made overall. Gonna have to find a serial number decoder ......

Perhaps only Iron Gray got the red highlighting, or maybe Chevy changed their mind after production started. I need to find another iron Gray to compare - it would seem odd that only Gray models got that red lettering, it would look good on any color except possibly red. Perhaps it was part of all the options this one had. I'll have to scan my window sticker closer.

I did decode the VIN at this site, it does list black bowtie and all sort of details but no red lettering: VIN Decoder - North American Motoring

I forgot to update on this - when returned from a trip to the US the weather kept me from washing the car a few weeks. I took it through a touchless wash and when I finally got to wash the car I made a surprising discovery.

I thought there was a dragonfly that got caught on the X on driver side door. It turned out to be plastic filament, about 3 or 4 strands. Some one was trying to steal the red highlite lettering, luckily they must have gotten interrupted because they only got halfway thru the X. So now the X is not 100% glued on and if I gently twist it moves a slight bit.

I have no idea if this happened in the US or Canada since I didn't notice it until a few weeks after I returned. I would think I would have noticed it pretty quickly after it happened but ya never know.

Any idea how what I could use to re-glue it properly? Dumb question probably, taking it to the dealer to remove, clean the old glue and reattach is likely the best. If I do it myself, if I knew what to use to remove old adhesive and what type new adhesive to use, I would likely put it back on crooked or too big a gap or whatever. I'm not the artistic type ..... lol

I also forgot to mention - the salesman who sold me the Nox bought his wife a black 22 RS and said he also has red lettering. He does not recall if other RS he sold have it, and I am not 100% convinced he has it, just the way he answered me.

I had the oil changed (and a failed attempt to fix my SD card removed error) and questioned the parts and service guys and no one had any idea about why I have the red lettering and others do not. I have seen another black RS in the small town I live in and it was black lettering. The mystery continues.

I believe they are just held on with 3M double sided trim tape.
I would use masking tape around the letter to mark its position and remove it and replace it with new tape indexing it to the marks on the masking tape. Dealer will do the same and charge you body shop rates.
Alcohol or WD should loosen up the old tape's adhesive.

You can get the red RS from amazon along with other equinox emblems
Just search for equinox emblems
