As I understand, the Equinox/Terrain for the model year 2021 will not have the 2.0 as an option. The refreshed version of both will be in model year 2022. The 2.0 will be available in the refreshed 2022 model, but the 2.0 will not be the same engine which is currently used.

Here's the latest: 2022 Chevy Equinox, GMC Terrain To Return With 2.0L Turbo Engine Option

I have a 2020 Terrain 1.5, I thought that I should have got the 2.0 however mine is 11months old I have 19,800 miles, I'm a pretty fast driver mostly freeway I'm getting 32 highway and overall average is 29.2. I've not found 1 time that 1.5 was lacking power or had any issues passing on side roads. Also I pull a 1,500 trailer (3 seater jetskie and trailer) have not had a issue with the trailer at full highway speeds.

Yes, the 1.5 is impressive for its size, and is an adequate performer:

But once you drive one with the 2.0 - - -

I guess it's all relative to what level of performance an individual is used to, has experienced in the past and their expectations/requirements of their new vehicle.

Exactly why there are options for us to choose from!

i had an 2018 with the 1.5.i needed more towing power so i got a 2020 with the 2.0.what a difference! my overall mileage is 26.2 at 15000 miles.when i traded in the 2018 with 45000 miles or so i had averaged 28.9.i have not towed too much with the 2020 but i usually average around 23 towing maybe 500 miles towing so far. i definitely recommend the bigger motor!

My Chevrolet app says my 2.0 lifetime fuel efficiency in two years and 19,587 miles is 28.6 mpg; using 93 octane top tier fuel.
