Getting "Service Side View System" on display when I start it. Display show arrows pointing to right rear module. Is this the bad module or is it randomly show module?

The mirrors light up like the system is working but I get the "Service Side View System" on display. It does not see anything beside of the SBZA modules. Does anyone know how to test the modules?

Did the module set a DTC?
Checking for a trouble code is always a good place to start.

On a related note.
I don't have that option on my 2014 Nox, but I can tell you that option on the Buick Encore has been somewhat buggy.

Took it to both Autozone and O'Reilly's but they didn't find anything. Is there anyway to use ohmmeter to test the side object modules? This started after battery went dead and had to jump it. Haven't read anything good about troubleshooting system. Any help would be appreciated.

You might have a module draining your battery. There’s a long 150+ thread on the Acadia forum about this problem. Some have found water inside these things when removed from inside the rear bumper area.

I’d probably start with a test for parasitic drain, OR - just remove that rear sensor and look at it closely. The answer may be obvious at that point.

UPDATE: LOL! I just saw one of my posts over there ... I *knew* I’d seen this complaint before. Anyway - one poster “Tmcg” pulled his side module and found it full of water, with circuit board inside corroded! Bought a new, pre-programmed, one from RockAuto for $215, and installed it himself. But it *still* needed some kind of “programming” (but he owned a MDI/TECH-2 GM device ... others *may* have to visit a dealership). He also ended up going back to his newly-installed module, re-drying it out, and sealing it up with epoxy and RTV to help prevent a future re-failure.

See post #70 and beyond.

Looks like GM started an SCA (Special Coverage Adjustment) on the Acadia for these failing Side Detection modules (up to 80,000 miles and up to model year 2017), so it’s a widespread issue.

If it were me, I’d try turning the feature OFF in the DIC menus first, then pulling the bad module to clean and reseal it - to see if that worked (or at least kept it quiet)... keeping in mind that (apparently) a mal-functioning module can cause *other* failure symptoms that *could* affect driveability.

(See post # 137 and beyond in the above thread for those “other” potential problems)

Possible that you blew one of the ECM/BCM fuses during the jump start.

Thought it could be a fuse but they all check out fine. I had done a visual check but went ahead and used a tester to check them the second time. Nothing bad. The lights in both of the mirrors come on when you start the car which shows it is working, but I get the service side detection system alert. I have yet to see where anyone had that problem. It seems one or the other side doesn't light up. I guess it will be off to the dealer even though the comments I have read doesn't show a lot of promise. I can't get to the Acadia forum because it show the system is down and being worked on.

It’s up right now. Haven’t seen it down since they transitioned to the new environment, but maybe it was taken down briefly today.

I would try pulling that module yourself first to try to avoid the can-of-worms at the dealer.
