My Equinox has had 2 battery failures.
Both instances the vehicle showed no symptoms. Working fine. Starting right up.
And suddenly CLICK CLICK CLICK.

The most recent one, I thought it was a bad terminal, as there was corrosion.
I cleaned it up and it started fine for a day and a half. Multiple engine starts.
The next morning- click click click.

The vehicle reports no alternator/charging issues via the dash.

Put in a new battery and its been working fine now for 27 days.

A lot of dead batteries occur because a car has been sitting on a dealer lot for months on end before being sold. Many times, the battery goes dead several times then before it is sold. Very hard on a battery and shortens its life and can damage one or more cells. Sulfation takes place and is difficult to undo which weakens the battery's ability to fully recharge.

Dealer's are not the best at maintaining batteries on lot inventory so the longer a car has been on a lot the more likely it will suffer an early demise. Today's vehicle electronics, especially on luxury vehicles with lots of added on goodies, have a substantial drain just sitting for even a few weeks, let alone months.

So, unless you ordered the vehicle out sadly there is a good chance the battery will have a very short life.
JayTee, I know this is an old thread and I'm late in reading your post from back in November. However, I appreciate your insight. My 2018 Equinox was manufactured in June 2017; we bought it December 2017. Obviously, it sat on dealer's lot for an extended period and "may" be one of those that will be susceptible to an early demise. Thanks for the background info; it will help me going forward.

Thanks. . and actually some dealers are pretty good at maintaining batteries in the cars they have on their lots. I've seen at least one or more dealers that have a portable charging station with a number of connections and can charge up to 6 vehicles at a time.
Of course, it takes a man to hook up and move the charging station all day long and I imagine it has to be moved and connected several times during a day.

We bought a 2017 Sonic last September and got a great deal on it. But the build date was 1/17. Which meant it was on the dealers lot for 7 to 8 months. . .
So we'll see how long the battery lasts in it.

A 2015 SRX battery fails...
We bought a certified 2015 SRX Premium with about 39k miles.

This morning the car was completely dead (3.4 volts across the battery terminals). No warnings or indications of a problem.

A Cadillac tech I talked to had seen this before. Suggested jumping and see if the charge holds.

Jumped it with my truck, and drove for a half hour or so. Voltage indicated between 14.4 and 14.8.

Starts and operates normally. Hope it works tomorrow.

FYI all’s well and not a hint as to what caused the “dead” battery. After a jump from my truck, it’s been completely normal...

I'm Having the same issue! Just replaced my battery three months ago, now my car is back in the shop for a dead battery AGAIN! I paid $400 for a new battery and diagnostic four months ago, had to take it back three weeks ago for another diagnostic because my app sent me an alert that my battery was low. Dealership gave it a clean bill- fast forward, three weeks, it is dead again, but this time I took it to another repair shop instead of the dealer!

I have the same problem, I replace the original battery with a Triple A battery 14 mos. ago, i don't drive the car that much it only have 15600 miles on it. I start the car about every 3 weeks. So I don't why the battery is going bad so soon, there is not a lot of use on the battery.

Same problem here about 14 months between batteries. First replacement no charge. This time stealer gave me a free battery and $108.00 Labour to replace. Totally unimpressed. Obviously a problem . I wonder if 14.4 volt is an over charge that may destroy them . Both Acdelco batteries. Maybe they have an change with to thin plates or something.

2015 SRX Battery Failures

I see this thread has been resurrected a few times since I posted it back in 2017. Our last battery installation of 9/5/17 has been working well. By writing this reply, I probably will have jinxed it's life expectancy  Anyway, I just wanted to leave some feedback as to how this last battery was functioning. The failures were probably due to some defect in the manufacture of the previous two batteries as nothing at all has changed in the charging system to effect any change.
