Hi all,

I just got a 2013 Terrain SLT with 57,000 KMs (35,000 miles) on it. The vehicle is a Canadian make (I bought it here in KSA). The odd thing is that the vehicle, despite being an SLT (SLT-1 I guess, as there is no power tailgate) does not have phone connectivity options !

There are phone controls and everything on the steering wheel and on the console but I have gone through the whole thing very thoroughly and could find absolutely no phone option of any kind.

I find it quite surprising that a vehicle can have heated seats, rear view camera with dynamic guiding lines, navigation, touch screen etc etc and do not have Bluetooth connectivity options despite having the buttons installed. I thought SLTs came with Bluetooth as standard.

Is it worth taking to the dealership to check if something can be done about this via software or was the car born without Bluetooth ?

The link doesn't work for GMC KSA. Besides, I have the manual that came with the car. It is just as vague. It says 'cars equipped with Bluetooth...'. I want to know if someone has experience with a similar trim or can give some other suggestion ?

I tried to use online VIN decoders to find details regarding the trim but couldn't get anything worthwhile.

I also see, what looks like a microphone array, on the roof panel (with interior lights).

I admit to being confused, I don't know what KSA is? However, when these vehicles were released they had more than one owners manual. The main one which is what I think you are referring to is as you say very vague and non helpful. You can download the other manual which is for the infotainment system by itself which will cover in depth the Bluetooth, radio, sat, and other connectivity devices. These manuals are available without going to the GM websites.

I apologize. It's Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Where/How can I find the manual specific to my vehicle ? By VIN ?

Thanks for the clarification, learned something new today. Just Google, 13 Terrain, infotainment manual and several selections should pop up.

Upon re reading your posts again, on your touch screen does it have a phone symbol? when you touch it, it should give you the option to pair a phone. If it does not appear then, the software may have been engineered to remove it or it was not allowed in your country for some reason. Unless you get the infotainment manual, a dealer may be able to shed light on the problem. Good luck with it.

As per those manuals, there must be Bluetooth connectivity.

Looks like you are right about the software part. All the hardware from microphone to the buttons is there. There is no phone icon or any mention of the word 'phone' or 'bluetooth' at all.

It looks like a dealership visit is in your future. In your first post you mentioned that it was a Canadian Vehicle. No vehicle in Canada that is equipped for pairing phones and Bluetooth would have it blocked out. Yours however may have been built in Canada but for export to KSA. An easy way to check this, is in the glovebox there will be a list of RPO codes which tell you what options came with the vehicle. Google will be able to quickly tell you what these are. Although Canadian Built VINs start with a 2 the way to check if its a export or an actually Canadian Vehicle is look on the rpo sticker near the bottom and it should have option Z49. If it does not then its an export and the rpo codes will also show Bluetooth delete after decoding on google. All vehicles sold by gm in Canada have the same z49 code. Americans also when they are at the vehicle auctions in the States could also check the rpo codes the same way.

hi, have the same issue here in KSA with my terrain 2013. the dealer (Jumaih) told me it was blocked, though the cars sold with other dealer (UMA) had it on.

today i have a call with GMC ME and filed a formal complain after (6 years of misery with this ****ty dealer). they said the will look into an update and get back to me. crossing my fingers.

thanks.
