I have a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox LS 2WD 4 Cylinders 2.4L that has an overheating problem. The car overheated once and was fine for weeks, overheated again and wasn’t driven for a while. Drove it again recently for quite a while with no issues. Coolant has been added more than once since the problems started
It has been to the shop and they did a coolant pressure test and found no leaks. Not sure what could be causing it to only occasionally overheat.
Note- no hot air would come out when heater was turned on while car was overheating
Any advice is welcome!

Low on coolant.
No hot air as no coolant getting to heater core.
Or stop leak was used or lots of gunk in coolant causing blockage?

The coolant is likely going through the engine! Probably a gasket leak allowing the coolant to escape into the combustion chamber.

Are you noticing any white smoke coming out the tailpipe?

A pressure test was done and found no leaks. I am thinking at some point someone has mixed coolants and caused the system to sludge up and prevent coolant from circulating.
