Hello,

My wife has just purchased a pre-owned 2012 equinox. The car has the touch screen radio and we're quite bummed that the bluetooth support is only for making phone calls.
Before going out and buying another bluetooth->aux adapter, I wanted to know if a software update would add this functionality? And while we're at it, are there any mods to add GPS navigation features? I see turn-by-turn navigation features but I can't figure out how to get that to work.

I've attached the relevant version info as well as what I see in "sources". I've read elsewhere that clicking "Aux" when connected to bluetooth lets you select your phone, but not in my case.

Bluetooth Audio wasn’t added until 2013.

The navigation is through Onstar. It kinda sucks but I bet you can do a free trial if you want to try it for yourself. Hit the button and see what they say. The navigation gives audio cues and It shows little arrows in the center screen but no map.

you may find posts about adding Bluetooth audio, but that only applies to the lower trim, but the color touch radio.

Replacing the head unit with another GM unit is an expensive proposition, because it also handles the HVAC controls. I believe it will take at least one trip to the dealer for programming, and it may not even be possible to put a newer head unit in there.

You can add a second headunit with an aftermarket kit and headunit down below where the CD drive is, but it’s a cumbersome solution.
