Just what is the difference in the 2012 4cyl engine from the 4 cyl engine used in the 2011 Terrain? Both are listed as having same specs

I believe the newer ones are able to run on E85.

I would have to agree with the previous post. It appears that the change is that they are E85 capable when ordered with (FE9) Federal emissions. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me directly. Thank you.

Darn - I was hoping that they would fix the start-up noise and other I-4 issues in the 2012 version - oh well !


Maybe they'll be addressed in the 2013 version - if GM is still in business ! :banghead:

They may have addressed those issues but I don't think they would advertise it in any way, so the only way to know will be to watch people's experiences here on this forum.

They are going to fix the noise by have bigger speakers in the car so the radio can be louder then the noise.

Not so much! One bought back; one just filed BBB complaint; one going Lemon Law; reports of vehicles now stopping and being towed in..... (!)

I assume you have issues with your Nox and sorry to hear that, but I'm sure that if EVERY 4cyl ever put into a Nox/Terrain had this start up noise that you refer to it would be fixed by now.

With the results of the start up noise poll, I think your assumption that he has a start up noise is probably a safe assumption.
