I've had my 2011 Terrain for 9 months....14,500 miles...rattle at start up... about 4 times...lasted a few seconds...other wise 28 mpg around town....30 mpg on highway...awd

About 2 times on my I-4 since takinlg delivery on 2011 terrain in First week of April. Did first oil change at dealer at 3700 miles,added about 1000 more miles since then,and have not gooten the rattle anymore. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Only once at around 6500 miles. Just after fueling up on a road trip in Arizona. Lasted less than 2 seconds.

Get it once in a while but dealer says it is normal. I say B/S find out what it is and fix it :thumbdown:

If your getting 28MPG city driving on an AWD you've got something none of the the rest of us have!

We occasionally hear a noise on our 11 I-4, but it is not coming from the engine, it sounds like a thudding/knocking some where around the exhaust. I have not been able to record it from inside and when I try out side, I can't get to it in time or don't have a recorder ready. It is sparadic.

New vehicle on 6/28, happened twice, both times after sitting for at least 6 hours. Lasted for few seconds. Contacting dealer today, not happy with any motor noise with less 200 miles on odometer. It sounds like lack of oil, my first new GM product and not making a good impression!

Have heard it twice so far - once when I first got it in December... a nice -20c start. Sounded like diesel was parked beside me starting up. Heard it a second time last week. +28c, windows down. No mistaking it for a different car when the windows are down. Not a pleasant sound to hear.
