I ordered a 2010 GMC Terrain SLT2 W/3.0 V6 engine, to be built the week so 12/14/09.The Montana dealer says he can't order this unit with an engine block heater. These cars are built in Canada and all Terrains there come with engine block heater as standard equipment. In northern Montana this heater is a must. Why can't I get it here?? Please help me!!! Who can I contact at GMC or anyone else who might help??

The RPO (Regular Production Order) code for the engine block heater is K05, and I don't see it listed in the Terrain's RPO Code List (check here for yourself: http://eogld.ecomm.gm.com/NASApp/domestic/rpocodes.jsp?year=2010&regionID=1&divisionID=2&vehicleID=8783#Q). It appears that this is not an available option on North American Terrains.

I live in BC and my Terrain has a block heater as standard. The plug is located just in front of the air box. I find this bizarre as Canadian Terrains, which are Canadian built have block heaters but is not an option for US buyers. From what I see the Canadian and US versions are the same, even the instrument panel is the same as you can switch between km/h and mph with a touch of a button, thus eliminating the need to manufacture 2 different panels or dashboards for the same vehicle.

There must be a way to have one factory installed and if not, have your dealer put one in at no charge.

And a nice feature on the Terrain block heater is a thermostat that won't kick in untill 0 degrees f.
