2008 equinox - hard to start after re-fueling - just cranks continuously - shut key off and retry - it eventually does start and starts fine every start after that - until next re-fueling - any ideas ??
Thanks

Sounds like an evaporative control issue. Have it scanned for codes and next time you need fuel, try filling the tank to only 3/4 or 7/8 max on the fuel gauge, see if that makes a difference.

I would suggest not putting any more fuel in it - should fix your problem.

Actually - First a question and then hopefully an answer...

Q: Do you have a check engine light?

A (Hopefully): There's a good chance that you need to replace your Purge Valve and/or EVAP solenoid which means I'm in agreement with Garagerog...his testing method would confirm the issue.

on the Traverse/Acadia- this is a classic symptom of topping off the gas tank.

the fix- to replace the purge valve up front.
and yes- it only happens right after fill up.

So your condition was not fixed after you changed part?

Yes - problem still exists after replacing purge valve up front - checked fuses - all ok - did what internet said - blew into purge valve and it is indeed closed - not sure how else to test it - maybe it is defective ?? since it is an electrical part - cant return to auto zone -

Ok you might laugh...the Saturn Vue of the early to mid 2000s was basically the same vehicle and Vues didn't like aftermarket gas caps. Someone would have a problem and replace the cap with an aftermarket one from AutoZone and it wouldn't clear the code...then they would try an oem AC Delco gas cap and the problem would be solved. Might be worth a try since you replaced the other possible causes and didn't visually see anything?
