Question is do you want to do a full trans fluid swap... or a drain and refill.
Theres several threads on how to.
I remember someone also asking about fluid change at 85,000

For reference. these have been my drain/refills on my 2013 3.6 Equinox.

Trans fluid change. Thoughts?
Do it. New fresh fluid will not hurt a normally functioning trans. It may help one acting up but no guarantees on that.
At that mileage if never done it will need at least 2 drain / refills. Wait until you see how black and ugly it comes out if never done.

Rbarrios, is that a new 2023 Traverse in your Sig line?
I see you have three 3.6L engines in your garage, did you retire one of the others?

Rednox, yes, my 2010 Traverse has been replaced by a 23.
I ordered my 23. I was expecting a longer build time....and thought I would reach 200,000.
But order to delivery was 7 weeks.
Only got to 193k.

We changed the trans fluid in our 2015 3.6L last year at 97k. It for the most part cured one of the odd flares we had that had existed for several years. I would highly recommend changing the fluid if you have not done it yet. We did the transmission, transfer case, and rear-end at the same time. It wasn't exactly the first trans fluid change, it had the valve body replaced twice, but it was the first "purposeful" fluid change in what we assume was the majority of the fluid was changed instead of what just dripped out.

That 3.6 FWD title threw me there for awhile as I was thinking that he must have AWD. Chevrolet only allowed the 2016 and 2017 with a 3.6 to be ordered with AWD. We did not have the option of just FWD. By George the Terrain could be ordered with a 3.6 and just FWD.

Regarding fluid change, yes it should have been done a long time ago around 35,000 to 40,000.

It was only the final model year (2017) where the Equinox with the 3.6L Engine was only available with AWD. In 2016 you could still get it.

Did you have the filter changed too?

Can't be done ... without removing the entire Transmission and cracking it open ("clamshell" case). Really bad design, IMO, but I'm sure GM Engineers would have their own argument in favor of it.

Probably went something like this at GM:

"why should we bother with that clunky 24-bolt Pan? They don't need that headache. The gasket ends up leaking ... some of them get damaged by road debris (and then they have an even bigger problem on their hands!). All they need to do is change the Fluid periodically. Just give them a Drain Plug and bury the Filter in there for life. "Life" will be at least 150,000 miles anyway. By that point, the vehicle is on the 2nd Owner ... and we don't care about those people ..."
