I know there is a lot of post on here about the side rails but i dont need them to be functional, just "cosmetically good looks" lol. So what parts would i need for installing Chrome side rails on an 11 nox? and can i just install the side rails that are chrome and nothing else?

Re: removal of roof rack cross bows

I have a 2010 Equinox LTZ which came with the standard roof rack. I would like to remove the two cross bows. The chrome side rails are fine, but I never use the roof rack and the cross bows just add wind resistance and wind noise. Our local dealer service representatives tell me that the cross bows can not be removed. I find that a little hard to believe. Any ideas where I can find out how to remove the roof rack cross bows?

With a step stool, you can remove the cross rails in about 30 seconds. On the back end of each side rail is a removable cover. Open those covers. Each cross rail had a release catch so it can slide forward or backward in the grove...just slide it all the way back so that it comes out at the removable cover. Pop the cover back in place.

If you do remove the cross rails, let me know what you'd be interested in selling them for.

Has your concern been ressolved? I would be happy to look into this for you as well with the last eight of your VIN. Please feel free to keep me posted either way. Thank you in advance.

Search the forum - there are instructions - it is about a two minute job. The rear black inner covers need to be removed (similar to opening up many TV remote battery compartments) and then the rails slide out the back.
