Hi Everyone, I'm a new owner of a 2016 Terrain SLT AWD with the 4 cylinder. My wife has put maybe 1000 miles on it since we got it.

I just did the oil change, filters...I found something disturbing though. While the oil cartridge filter was out there was a "gray-ish" color that is normally identified as water/coolant in oil. The underside of the oil cap had moisture and reddish sludge (slight amount but it was there). I noticed the coolant reservoir was slightly low, but appeared to be the correct color. Power seems fine and there's no smoke.

Is this a known issue for the 2.4L? Head gasket issue? If not the head gasket...any leads?

This aside, my wife is loving the car.

Thanks everyone!

Where do you live ? Do you take mainly short trips ? Making short trips in cold weather may not get the engine warm enough to burn off the moisture that gets generating withing the engine. Just a thought !
