We have a new 2020 Equinox Premier. In the 2020's Chevy has done a good job of replacing almost all of the old style bulbs, inside & out, with LED's which is nice. However the front fog light and turn signal bulbs are still old filament or halogen bulbs. The headlights now look a very nice white white but the fog light bulbs look almost brownish compared to the headlights.
Has anyone swapped these bulbs yet with LED's? The fog lights are H8's and the turn signal bulbs are 7444NA's?
The fog lights should be a straight swap with an LED bulb equivalent, but the turn signal may require an LED bulb with a resistor i.e. CanBus setup - not positive though.
When I built my 2020 Terrain Denali on the GMC website I noticed an interesting option. LED Fog Lamps.
I don’t like the way my standard fog lights look compared to the LED headlights. Interestingly, I built a Chevy Equinox on the website and the LED Fog Light option isn’t shown.
At some point I am going to replace my fog lights with the OEM LED Fog Lights from GM. They are a $450 option and come as two complete units. It’s not a bulb swap. The backs of the LED Fog Lights have large heat sinks built in. I want to go OEM to keep from any issues that may occur from a LED bulb swap.
After searching I found the GM part number for these were 84142430. Any GM dealer can order these and the list price is $350 but I found a number of places that sell them for less than $300 for the pair. Now I suspect that these would be a direct swap to the Equinox as well but don’t know that for sure.
I've replaced my Terrain fog lights with ones from Amazon and the work great. Make sure you get ones that state they work with projectors and read others people reviews. You do not need to purchase the ones from GM. The only little thing I have seen is with autostop they will flash real fast when the car restarts. Probably just a computer setting the dealer can fix but not a big deal for me.
Most cars that have fog lights with LED are still using Halogen bulbs. The reason is one probably cost but the other is the argument that halogen bulbs are better for fog than LED. I wanted the led because when its raining at night I can now see the lines in the road. Fog is not a big issue that often where I live.

Just a warning to others. If you plan to use the above bulbs as fog lights, the 6500K is probably fairly purple, and will not cut thru fog very well - you would be better off with a 3000K - more yellow. But, if you are just looking for aesthetics, then go for it !
