tom3 Final word on the lease turn in.

We turned in our '17 Terrain, SLEII, V6, AWD, loaded with sunroof after the lease ran out. We had extended the lease a couple months trying to figure out what was next. But average trade in on it was between $18 and 19k from what we searched and were told at some other dealers. GM leasing wouldn't budge on the buyout price of $24,850 or we would have kept that machine. Liked it a lot. See it on a lot in Pa. listed at $25k. Seems like that lot deals in lease returns mostly. I'm sort of wondering if maybe it's better to run all the leased miles off if thinking about buying at lease end, maybe get a better price on the buyout? Anyhow, the Tahoe is doing fine, wife likes it, too big for me but sure good on the road hauling all our traveling cargo. Getting some amazing gas mileage too.

tom3 Got the inspection done on the Terrain, no surprises, no charges due. Still have to say it was not a good experience. Fifteen minutes after the inspector left we were on the road to the local dealer, finalized the paperwork on a new Tahoe. (wife is happy) Another lease - but the buyout this time around is actually a reasonable amount. If the machine proves itself we'll probably buy it and the kids can deal with it when we're six feet under. Gave it a good clean up today, whew, that's a chore. Not real impressed with those textured fabric like wheel well liners. Nice paint, good fit and finish on the whole vehicle. Seamless cylinder de-activation, no auto stop. Leg room for a 7 footer in this machine.

Anyway, I do appreciate the good info I've gotten on this forum. Good group here!

c&wsinbad Hey scbearsfan--I'm old AND happily married--and HAPPY! You are right, though: Happy Wife, Happy Life! Requires good communication and a willingness to compromise --based on mutual SHARED goals.

scbearsfan Remember Tom3 ‘Happy Wife, Happy Life’ unless you’re old married folks, in which case you’re past being happy. Lol

tom3 No Honda in our future. Waiting on the inspection before going broke on a new Chevy to be named later. Had my sights set on a crew cab Colorado, wife's been harping on a new Tahoe. You can take a guess at what we're signing papers on?

Twisting the wife's arm to go buy a Honda Pilot and run it to death, if those things will ever die.

Car sales people have a large percentage of dirt bag people in the ranks & many dealerships are shady... I have found a few good chevy dealers here in my area that are the exception...

I am not sure Honda quality is what is used to be... Make sure you do your research.. We really considered a CRV but, I was not impressed by the technology or interior layouts and I really couldn't get excited about the styling..

Cadgenius When I leased through Ally, there was never an inspection. Then when the next lease was with GM Financial, they require an inspection. The company was AutoVIN. They contacted me to set up the inspection at the house. They came on time, gave me their business card with a PIN # and did their inspection, photos, check for 2 keys, etc. Also make sure that you still have the manuals that came with the car. They want that present as part of the inspection. My last lease end had a scratch and small dent which was in the acceptable size range and photos were taken with the scale.

Afterwards, you will get an email with a link to the report and photos.

Inspection Report Complete
We hope your inspection experience was a pleasurable one. If you have questions regarding your turn-in-process, potential charges or other questions regarding your inspection results please contact: GM Financial Leasing.

I turned my lease in without any issues and leased another vehicle (2018 Equinox Premier)

I def think you need the inspection and wouldn't leave it up to the dealer. They are just looking to lease you another car.

Good luck.
