ktizzle--Thanks for the clarification. Unfortunately, your experience seems to be the norm. Wishful thinking on my part that a major corporation would do the stand-up, right thing regarding warranty and customer service. Kudos to your dealership! Their "goodwill" support is commendable.

c&wsinbad ktizzle--Congratulations on a positive outcome! It's good to hear the success stories as well! Glad to hear that GM and Chevrolet can be "stand up" companies and do the right thing. Doesn't always happen, but when it does, it deserves attention! Hope you continue to enjoy your new ride.

ktizzle Hey all,
sorry for the delay but I am out of my 2018 equinox that had the sunroof issues. I was able to trade into a brand new 2018 equinox premier with a sunroof at $0 exchanged. They deactivated my sunroof because there still isn't a fix for the sunroof being broken. They deactivated my sunroof until there is a fix because they are not confident on what sunroofs work and which ones don't work.

It was a **** of a 3 months but now I am in a brand new car and I didn't have to pay anything (when originally they wanted me to pay $4,000 for the car the traded me into).

My lesson learned is to file for lemon law the moment you become eligible! I had faith that it would get fixed and by the time i was going to file for lemon law I was already 2 months in and didn't want to have to wait longer going to court.

I am OK with the outcome. I didn't have to give them a penny more and I didn't have to pay for a lawyer.. but I know I am one of the lucky ones so please file ASAP!

Thanks everybody for your support through this nightmare.

I think you need to find a better lawyer. You should easily win your case.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! i am going to mention it to them. Hopefully my deal I have going on doesnt fall through. I will find out next week if it gets finalized. GM denied my request for a vehicle buyback and said "they will work on my car as long as I am in warranty". My car is in its 5th month of warranty and has been in the shop for 3 months.

Condition
Customer may comment that their sunroof is inoperative after cycling, and/or the sunroof the window opens/closes much slower in comparison to a like vehicle.

Cause
The cause of the condition may be that the sunroof is going into thermal protection mode due to one, or both, of the following:

•The sunroof supplier may have manufactured a span of sunroof motors are lacking the proper amount of grease.

Correction
Inspect both sunroof motors for the supplier’s Julian build date breakpoint and replace if necessary. If issue is not resolved, remove the sunroof housing locator pins, following the Service Procedure below.
