Terrain reliability stats ASAP (please sign up)

I wanted more up-to-date car reliability information that included actual repair rates. So in late 2005 I started getting people together to make this possible. TrueDelta now reports absolute repair rates that make the differences between cars much clearer. Results are updated four times a year, so it's possible have stats very quickly for new models and to track cars closely as they age.

Thanks to the very active and outstanding related forums for the larger Lambda crossovers, we had some quick stats for the Acadia and Outlook. Hopefully we can do the same for the Terrain. Just a matter of how rapidly owners sign up and participate.

Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.

To encourage participation, participants receive full access to all results, not just those for the Terrain, for free.

I'm a member of this useful service for my GMC Acadia. Truedelta.com provides a great service and it's very quick and simple to sign up. He is not a sponsor and I have no ties with truedelta.com other than being a member, but I believe they are providing a very valuable (and much needed) service! I strongly encourage all Terrain, Equinox and SRX owners to sign up.

Re: Terrain reliability stats ASAP (please sign up)

30 owners signed up so far. Might be enough for a result in February, but it's going to be tight. Generally need 40+ signed up for a full result.

So if ten more owners could sign up and participate...

Re: Terrain reliability stats ASAP (please sign up)

Results have been updated to include owner experiences through the end of 2009. This update includes the first reliability stats for the 2010 Equinox and Terrain. With 94 repair trips per 100 vehicles per year, it's about where the Lambdas, VUE, and AURA were at this point, and worse than average. If it's like those models the score will improve next year. Most problems appear to be minor electrical, which is typical of cars these days.

A big thank you to this forum and everyone who helped make these results possible. We'll have updates in May and August, to closely track any changes. The more owners participate, the more precise these results will be.

Re: Terrain reliability stats ASAP (please sign up)

We have updated reliability stats for the Equinox, Torrent, and Terrain based on owner experiences through March 31, 2010. In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2010: 48, about average and a big improvement over earlier in the model year

2006: 113, worse than average

2005: 100, about average

Small sample sizes for the 2005 and 2006.

Everyone who has been helping, thanks, I appreciate it. We'll have updates in August and November. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.

Re: Terrain reliability stats ASAP (please sign up)

We have updated reliability stats for the Equinox, Torrent, and Terrain based on owner experiences through June 30, 2010. Other sources of car reliability information won't cover the more recent months until the summer or even fall of next year.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2010: 46, about average

2006: 110, worse than average, small sample size

2005: 88, about average, very small sample size

Everyone who has been helping, thanks, I appreciate it. We'll have updates in November and February. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.
