I wanted more up-to-date car reliability information that included actual repair rates. So in late 2005 I started getting people together to make this possible. TrueDelta now reports absolute repair rates that make the differences between cars much clearer. Results are updated four times a year, so it's possible have stats very quickly for new models and to track cars closely as they age.

Thanks to the very active and outstanding related forums for the larger Lambda crossovers, we had some quick stats for the Acadia and Outlook. Hopefully we can do the same for the Terrain. Just a matter of how rapidly owners sign up and participate.

Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.

To encourage participation, participants receive full access to all results, not just those for the Terrain, for free.

I'm a member of this useful service for my GMC Acadia. Truedelta.com provides a great service and it's very quick and simple to sign up. He is not a sponsor and I have no ties with truedelta.com other than being a member, but I believe they are providing a very valuable (and much needed) service! I strongly encourage all Terrain, Equinox and SRX owners to sign up.

30 owners signed up so far. Might be enough for a result in February, but it's going to be tight. Generally need 40+ signed up for a full result.

So if ten more owners could sign up and participate...

ok, done.

Results have been updated to include owner experiences through the end of 2009. This update includes the first reliability stats for the 2010 Equinox and Terrain. With 94 repair trips per 100 vehicles per year, it's about where the Lambdas, VUE, and AURA were at this point, and worse than average. If it's like those models the score will improve next year. Most problems appear to be minor electrical, which is typical of cars these days.

A big thank you to this forum and everyone who helped make these results possible. We'll have updates in May and August, to closely track any changes. The more owners participate, the more precise these results will be.

Sometimes people sign up to participate, don't participate, but don't inform me they no longer want to participate, and then get upset when they continue to receive emails for the survey. People who don't participate do receive more frequent emails that those who do.

We have updated reliability stats for the Equinox, Torrent, and Terrain based on owner experiences through September 30, 2010.

Other sources of car reliability information won't cover the months since April until the summer or even fall of next year.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2010: 44, about average

2006: 45, about average, small sample size

2005: 120, worse than average, very small sample size

We now have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds," to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop.

In the case of the 2010 Equinox and Terrain, the percentage with no repairs is about 68, and the percentage of lemons is less than one.

That is a spam/junk email message. Personally I would not respond/reply/unsubscribe, just forward to the FTC spam@uce.gov

If your email site/provider/client offers a 'mark as spam' feature I would do that as well.

I deleted it. Anything that offers to pay me for something like this will probably want some bank account numbers or other personal info.
If it's too good to be true.................
That's fine too. Yep, good call. Never give out anything like that on the internet. Even if a link takes you to something that looks like a trusted bank site or similar, just don't do it.

mkaresh I've participated with you on your site since you began it, or pretty close. My '06 Impala has come and gone, replaced by my '12 Terrain. My '08 Wrangler is still a participant. Terrain members I encourage you all to try his site- extremely useful and not intrusive on your time at all. NO nuisance emails, etc etc. Gary H. :thumb:
