Oh ... they’ll take it all right ... along with a chunk of your wallet! Probably try to talk you into a trade-up for an Acadia, too. Then they can hit you on both ends...

But really ... software problems are small potatoes. I’d just hang in there ... or try another dealer. You’ll get past it.

My parents bought a Cherokee when the new platform came out (fall 2013?). I think it went back in 6 or 7 times for software updates due to the 9 speed transmission issues. 6 years and 80,000 some odd miles later it's still trouble free and they are quite happy with it.

Point is, don't let emotion make automotive / financial decisions for you.

My 2019 Equinox Redline had about four automatic updates early on. Then one about four months ago.

This did not require any trips to the dealer, as it was all updated automatically.

Everything is working fine now. (15 months in service)

Doesn't your vehicle update automatically too? If so, it will end soon and probably won't need to be done as frequently in the future.

NOTE: I just read your other post that required service at the dealer after I submitted this post. This isn't the same type of issue as what I experienced.

I'm not sure if the issues you have been experiencing could be auto updated or not.

The only OnStar service I subscribe to is the Remote Access plan for about $100 a year. It is quite comprehensive and allows controlling and monitoring various systems from a smartphone.

This is more useful than the older included/five year remote plans that used to be available.

You guys are talking about automatic updates. I donít think my 2020 Terrain has done that. If it has, Iím not aware of it.

Those who want to see if they have received updates can. Go to your settings, Then toggle down to software, about. Click on it and you will see what software version you have as well as what updates have been received.

You would know if an update was ready to install.

The screen is taken over by the update message; you can choose to do it later, or accept it now.

The vehicle must then be turned off, and it cannot be started or operated for a few minutes as per the instructions.

When the update is completed and you restart the vehicle, it will confirm if the update was successful.

You can't miss this if you tried.

I stated that mine hasn't updated recently; well I take that back. I had another update last Wednesday.
