2015 GMC Terrain SLE with grille damage

Hi All,

My son had a minor fender bender in my 2015 GMC Terrain SLE just the other day. It resulted in the bottom passenger side section of the chrome grille trim breaking. One section slid under the louvers but is still attached. There is also a small dent between the grille and the passenger side headlight which has caused the front bumper cover to pop out slightly from the base of the headlight. Two photos are attached.

I obtained an estimate from a body shop for parts (front bumper cover, grille) together with paint and labour. They came in at around $2,300 CDN. I'd like to find an alternative, if there is one. From what I have determined so far, it's possible to order the bumper cover and grille (obviously the cover would need to go in to a paint shop), and then do this job ourselves. Another option would be to try to pull out the minor dent as well as replace the grille. It appears that there are also grilles that adhere to an existing grille, which could possibly work if we could pull the broken section of the original grille trim forward enough to have a more level starting point. Or I suppose we could jimmy the trim around the grille back into place (or order new trim if that can be done separate from the louvered section) but it's possible that the situation could be made worse rather than better.

Any ideas, suggestions, advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The bumper cover is plastic/composite, no? Pulling it out as done with a metal part might not work too well. You could always try...nothing to lose. If it pops out somewhat, you could slap on a grille from a wrecking yard car for an uber-cheap ghettaux repair. But it would be ugly. From what is visible in the pics, the car is in really good shape otherwise so that would stand out.
