Proud new member, I think

Hello everyone,
Have been lurking here for about a week. My wife and I received a 2010 Equinox LT (for free) two weeks ago. This car looks new, but needs a lot of work.

Some times, you get what you pay for. If you have the 4 cyl., and it has oil burning issues, you may be better off donating it to the next person, and let them pull their hair out.

But...tell us about the car. i.e. engine, miles, issues, etc.

2010 Equinox LTZ 2.4 L 4 cyl, FWD, S/R Cardinal Red/Black

If you lurk around here for long, you will learn more about your 2010 Equinox; mostly things you probably didn't want to hear if it has the 2.4 engine.

Sorry if you didn't get a warm and proper welcome! But you should be aware of the potential problems with your newly acquired vehicle before you get too attached to it.

I had a 2011 LTZ 2.4 until I did a little research; traded it for a 2016 LTZ, AWD 3.6. Unfortunately for me, I researched after purchasing.

.

2019 Chevy Equinox; 2.0 - LT - FWD - Silver Ice/Redline - Purchased 10/20/2018; Mills Chevrolet, Davenport IA
2016 Chevy Equinox; 3.6 - LTZ-AWD - Black/Black - Purchased 7/7/2016; Mills Chevrolet, Davenport IA
2017 Chevy Malibu; 1.5 - LT - Pepperdust - Purchased 8/2017; Green Chevrolet, East Moline, IL
2009 Chevy Silverado; 5.3 -LT - 4WD - Ext. Cab - Granite Met. - Purchased 02/2009; Green Chevrolet, East Moline IL

I don't think that we know what engine he has, only speculation at this point.

If it’s the 2.4L engine (which it most likely is if you got it for free) hurry to the nearest dealer to see if you can fail an Oil Consumption Test before your SCA runs out (if it already hasn’t).

How many miles on this thing?

Do you know the date of Original Purchase?

2011 Equinox 1LT (new Jan 2011): Summit White / 3.0 L V6 / FWD / Pioneer Stereo / 18" Wheels / 131.6k miles [14-JUN-2019]

2002 Impala 1LT (new Jun 2002): Summit White / 3.4 L V6 / FWD / Cassette-CD Combo /222.5k miles [13-JUN-2019]

"Don't look at a gift horse in the mouth". You got it for free and if it is running...then put gas, oil etc and use it as much as you can with reasonable maintenance. That is what i would do. When cost of maintenance gets unaffordable trade it in.
RIT333 and TerrainSLT2019 like this.

2018 equinox 1.6l Diesel LT, Hecho en Mexico, julio 2017
