Consider purchasing 2018 GMC Terrain

I am considering buying a used 2018 Terrain from the local GMC dealership. I had read many reviews from Terrain owners who has had issues with the radio. When ai test drove it, I noticed the radio did not work. The dealership explain they are replacing the amplifyer. This did not make sense to me since the amp powers the speakers, not the FM tuner. SirusXM did work, but the radio didn't. The new amp was installed and according to the dealership, the vehicle is fixed.

I am considering buying it, but I would like to know from those who has had issues, have they found a permanent fix?

Your thoughs would be appreciate.

They just sent out a recall for certain GMC Terrain models to have something looked at with the radio.

Remember you are buying car and not a working radio...if i were you i would ask for a very good discount for a non-working fm radio, say $1500 to $2000 from their sale price. so far from this forum comments and complaints ...this is a decent car (and some have already put 30K to 40K miles on it with no major mechanical issues).

You are a great negotiator if you can get that extra discount for a non-working stereo, which you can then get repaired under the BtB warranty.

It's a month that I have my 2019 SLT and I am totally in love with it. My wife has a 2018 Q5 and she drove my Terrain for the first time last weekend and likes it better than her Audi and this is her second Q5. Thank you GMC!

If i can get repaired under BtB warranty then why don't they do it before selling it ?

Well if they are selling it unrepaired ...i would walk away if they don't reduce by a $1500 at least (out of the $25K or more they are getting out of me). They will most probably find somebody to buy it who reasons like you...good for them.

There are plenty of this model out there and plenty on the market 1 year old already....just look around (carmax etc for e.g).,,,you might not get it this week...you'll find one next week i am sure.

Do you know the history of this vehicle? Was it a lease, was a loaner, was it just traded in by an owner who wanted to get rid of it (maybe because of the bad vibe with the radio)?

Personally, I wouldn't buy it - but this is coming from someone who always buys new. Just feels like the beginning of some bad karma ... even from where I'm sitting.

Let me ask you this: how much are you saving versus buying this same vehicle brand new?
