Cadillac version of 2018 Equin/Terr. . . . XT3/XT4?

I've been watching the leaked info on the proposed new Cadillac "compact" SUV and now more is starting to be revealed. It looks more like an "XT3" would be based off of the Buick Encore is some ways. No glass behind the C pillar like on the Equinox/Terrain . .. what little they now have. Some say there is conflicting info the the pictures here ARE of a second XT3 smaller CUV more like the Buick Encore. That would make sense since there are also leaked photos of a larger XT4 proto type in testing.

Also, it would make sense since Cadillac is rumored to have said it is sorely lacking in the small SUV and CUV category so perhaps both the XT3 and XT4. Also, the price of the XT3 is rumored to be "starting at about $30,000. I would think and XT4 would be more than that.

The first photo, indeed, looks more like the size of the 2018 Equinox/Terrrain with more length past the C pillar and possibly some concealed glass area. Plus, the wheels look larger than the other two "XT3" photos.

Conflicting info though, on whether is will be called XT3 or XT4.

Here is an article and also more detailed pictures than previously revealed. Looks like it will be about the same size as the 2018 Equinox/Terrain ans also powered by a turbo 4 cylinder engine of yet undisclosed size. I'm guessing more that the 2.0L turbo, or maybe some variation of it.

I knew Cadillac was looking into a SMALL CUV like the Encore/Trax didn't know they were looking at a Equinox/Terrain size. They have the mid sized XT5 which is the same size as the Acadia. Would the market support 3 CUVs below the Escalades?

I remembered this thread by JayTee from earlier this year and went back to read it again.
It does look like the smaller XT3 (?) is based off the Encore.
I bought a 2018 Encore last week and the Camo vehicle in the pics is a dead ringer.

The size and location of the door glass, rear spoiler, side mirrors, are all the same.
Even the intercooler that is shown in the front lower grill is exactly the same.

Will be interested in your take on the Encore. We looked at it and the Trax last year. The Encore is a nice compact CUV and is nicely appointed. I then realized that the Encore and Trax are on the same platform as the Chevy Sonic.

When we compared the actual interior space of these, we were surprised that dimensions were virtually the same in most respects, except for overall height. And the Sonic actually had a bit more room in it for rear up seat cargo area, front leg room, rear hip room and a few other dimensions.

When we sat in both, wife liked the Sonic and idea of lower cost and better MPG. I liked the sporty handling of the Sonic as well. Neither the Encore/Trax nor the Sonic will boast performance car aspects, but the Sonic is some 430 lbs lighter with the same engine.
And many parts interchange from Encore to Sonic. Prior to last year, the Sonic did not have the 6-way power seat we have in our 2017, so some owners swapped out seats from the auto recyclers and also bought other bits here and there.
Anyway, it's our retirement little sporty run about.

I read that Cadillac was looking at CUV/SUVs for each size:

Small : Encore, Trax, XT3?
Compact: Equinox, Terrain, XT4?
Mid: Acadia, Blazer, XT5
Full: Enclave, Traverse, XT7?
Large: Tahoe,Suburban, Yukon/Yukon XL, Escalade'

Right now Cadillac is lacking a full sized SUV with 3rd row seating.

Was looking promising until he showed the high end price, for $55K you can get the next to TOL XT5 unless you feel the XT5 is too large. And he was calling it a compact CUV which would put it in the same size class as the Equinox & Terrain.

Acadia is the same platform as the Enclave and Traverse. You could also fit Buick's Envision into the compact class

2017 Chevrolet Equinox LT
2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS

I agree with you about the Envision but the Acadia by virtue of downsizing dropped from the Traverse and Enclave size and whatever silly name Cadillac chooses to come up with. If you are going to be in the Full category then the three sisters, Tahoe, Yukon and Escalade belong in that section and not the Large as they are only the same size as the Traverse and Enclave. I cant see Cadillac really needing a full 3rd row seater when they already have both the Escalade and ESV. It would only cannibalize sales. A lot of sales reps in gm dealerships are really starting to push the Traverse over the Tahoe, in fact you can see some youtube videos of them doing it. They must have a better commission on the Traverse.
