The Acadia WAS on the same platform as the Enclave and Traverse. It was downsized in mid year 2016 as a 2017.

Absolutely - - and . . as @scbearsfan knows - - -

. . . . the Acadia has the distinction of being built along side and in the same plant as the Cadillac variants. So high quality and also . . . made in U.S.A. Spring Hill, TN. A great plant with a great workforce. We've visited there 3 times and know several employees.

Acadia flies under the radar. When the incentives are in full force - - - Acadia is a steal of a CUV. It rides on the same sized wheel base (112.5") as the 1st Generation GMC Terrain, but on a wider track and completely different platform since 2017. Previously, it was on the GM Lambda platform (120.9 wheel base ) like Traverse and Buick Enclave but is now up to 700 pounds lighter and very nimble yet has the 3 rows of seats if desired.

The Acadia is not too small . . . and not too large. It's j-u-s-t right.

Good info. I hadn't realized they downsized the Acadia. Guess that's why one of my coworkers that drove a Traverse and just bought a new Acadia keeps complaining that the new car just seems smaller when she's packing it with her kids. lol. My brother-in-law used to work at the Lansing assembly plant where the Lambda platform was built. He's moved over to Flint truck assembly though.

When they first came out you would not believe the posts on the Acadia forum from people who bought one and complained that it was too small. It’s not for everyone

And if some felt the Acadia, Enclave and Traverse was/is too small . . . can't imagine how they would feel about the Equinox, Terrain or Trax/Encore.

On another note. . . I see Chevy will be making a three row seat version of the new Blazer. Not sure what plant will be making that.

You would think that before people bought the Acadia they would have noticed the smaller dimensions and acted accordingly

We did. . . and bought the Acadia because the exterior dimensions were only a bit larger (6" longer) than our 2015 Equinox, rather than 16" longer like the Traverse.

Urbansuburuban, you would think that would be one of the first things you would check out. I use a big wheel walker, the first thing we do open the back end and see if it will fit without too much trouble.

I had to check my Equinox too, because I was coming from a Malibu. I was a bit surprised to find the Equinox 4 inches shorter. Gives me a bit more room, although since I back in, I have to do the whole Matrix thing as the rear gate comes up
