To be fair GM is far from the only company that deletes options and raises prices. They all do it.
But you also have to consider what they are doing. They have to keep the profit in a product and in pricing and equipping a vehicle the little things add up. They have to take a look and see just what is and what is not missed to try to keep the prices from going up even more.
On the other hand they also raise the prices but also many times add many features. The New Camaro coming out is about $3k more but they rolled the RS package into the car and added many new standard features too. So while you pay a little more you are getting more value in the package and things never offered before like a 7 inch video screen. They have done this with the Cruze too.
I think the games at Cadillac are at an end. Those of the old culture at GM were the ones of compromise. Today those who just got in charge of Cadillac will not play the discount game but they will also add much more value to the product as they will remove many of these short cuts and short changed features.
The old Culture argued about a better Door Handel on the CT6 with Mark Ruess. Do not expect the same argument to take place on the coming CT8 and 4-5. You will pay a premium price but they will provide a premium car. These changes are a couple years out with product cycles as they are. Not sure if the new CUV will get them since it was locked in already.
Cadillac....haha...a friend of mine picked up a 2014 CTS..."standard" edition...stickered over 50K....and.....no backup camera....
