Cargo carrier dilema

I have a 2012 gmc terrain. I have factory rails. i have 2 questions. if i buy the factory crossbars, are they strong enough to hold a roof top carrier? I i go aftermarket, what is a good fit? I think the spacing with aftermarket crossbars could be an issue mounting the carrier. Going on a last minute roadtrip in a couple of weeks.

Re: Cargo carrier dilema

The crossbars have a bow made in them, strengthening them considerably. Read in the owners manual and the total weight restrictions are given. Unless you are carrying over a couple of hundred pounds in the carrier you shouldn't have any trouble.
