sagging while towing.

I was wondering if any one has a problem with the rear sagging while towing. I have a 2012 v6 terrain and will be hauling a 2000lbs boat with a single axle tralier. There are a few steep inclines from the road and I'm hoping that I won't be scraping the bottom of my hitch or muffler. If there is any sagging, any ideas about how to fix it?

I tow a Yamaha model 1860 G3 center console aluminum boat with a 90 HP 4 stroke Yamaha outboard on a single axle trailer that weighs approximately 2500 pounds and have not seen any appreciable drop in the rear of my 2013 AWD V6 Equinox when the boat/trailer is hooked up. The Nox handles the rig extremely well- last weekend my son and I drove from near Charlotte, NC to Sneads Ferry, NC to do some flounder gigging and got 19.8 MPG average for the trip there and back. Well pleased with the towing ability of the NOX!

I would check the tong weight as the boat may be too far forward on the trailer. A properly placed boat will have most of the weight on the trailer axle with a much smaller weight on the tong.

Since most trailers are somewhat universal some people can set them up with the load too far forward. It may not show it to be too forward with a pick up truck but a light SUV or car will sag under the heavier load on the tong.

I would get a weight on the boat and trailer and then set a scale under the tong and just see how the weight is placed over the trailer.

This may be why most people have no issue and you are. I am not sure of the tong weight on this vehicle but most want you to be 200 pounds or less. I would think it would be this or less. The SUV is there to pull not support the boat the trailer is there to support the weight.

You could also look into getting a load leveler for the hitch, if you see the rear suspension of the 'nox itself getting bogged down.

You should not have any troubles as long as the tongue weight on the hitch is no more than 10% of the weight of the trailer to the max of either 1500 lbs or 3500 lbs depending on engine size.
I have had 600 lbs of water softener salt in the back of mine and not have any issues with bottoming out.
It only sat the back down about 1.5 inches.

I got mine to sag but only after I loaded 12 fifty pound bags of crushed marble and several bags of top soil. I may have had anywhere from 800-1000 pounds in the back and it did not sag much. If anything it rode even better.

I've got a 2013 V6 AWD with a 2" hitch. I went to hook up my trailer the other day, it was the first time I've used it since buying the Nox. I've always had trucks so the height of the hitch ball was never an issue, but the hitch on the Nox sits a lot lower than I'm used to.

Luckily my hitch bar is 2" drop, or 2" rise depending on how you attach the ball. Had to remove the ball, flip the bar "upside down" to the 2" rise side and re-attach the ball to get the proper ride height.

My trailer has 15" wheels though, your mileage might be different.
