Hi,

For what I understand, the tow package is just the hitch with the electrical connector. Nothing more than that.

Yeah, the V6 has max towing of 3500 lbs, just for anything smaller with a 4 pin connector, there's no beefier engine equipment, just basically the tow hitch. No bigger/heavier trailers with 7 pin connector and brake controller, so it's not taxing the engine that much.

Thanks for the info guys. Mine didn't have a trailer hitch. I just installed one this weekend. Bought the wire to hook up to the connector and it is working with a test light. Sad to hear they didn't add a larger radiator or trans cooler.

From the GMC website:

– 3,500 lbs. towing capacity1 with this available trailering equipment
– Heavy-duty cooling system, to help head off overheating on a long trip under load
– 2" trailering receiver
– 7-wire electrical harness and 7-pin sealed connector for connecting your trailer's lights and brakes to your vehicle

The cooling system is upgraded from the 4 cyl to the 3.6L.
With the larger radiator, shroud and second cooling fan, that about takes up all the available room.
Towing should be fine.
