Roof Rack Rails?

Hey guys,

I'll be moving out of my apt soon and was looking into getting a roof topper to throw stuff in, but apparently, GMC didn't give me roof rack rails...I just have the roof rack.

Is there rails available? or a comparable set

Re: Roof Rack Rails?

well I bought them lol

Now I'm wondering if I should spend the excess on a Thule Roof Box or go with something cheaper and with more room like SportRack

Re: Roof Rack Rails?

By the way, these are fully adjustable correct? Just making sure before I buy a fixed cargo carrier, that these can be adjusted to the carier

Re: Roof Rack Rails?

The rails lock in one of 4 positions. If you look in the channel of the roof rack side rails you will see the locking pin holes.

Re: Roof Rack Rails?

Hmmm, don't know if thats a good thing or not. I know these roof rack hardshell carriers are at a fixed position to connect to cross bars, I'm wondering if they all have the same general length. only being able to lock in 4 positions isnt good.

has anyone purchased a roof top carrier for the Terrain/nox yet??

****, maybe I should just rent a uhaul and attach to my trailer hitch

Re: Roof Rack Rails?

I'd almost bet the boxes would fit just fine. If you haven't already, see if Thule has detailed specs on their web site or check out the instruction manual - they should have a PDF for download.

You up in the city? Was looking at your user name. We're down in Gilroy.

Re: Roof Rack Rails?

USF = University of South Florida lol, not Cali

I'm living in TN now, but I'm moving back to FL, and with rotations coming up, travelling all over the place back and fourth makes it tough with such a small SUV...

Re: Roof Rack Rails?

Ah! This first thing that came to mind was University of San Francisco.

Was washing the Equinox earlier and while drying the roof, I noticed the side rails have little arrows on them indicating where the locking pins line up. Hope that helps ya. Yeah it's got room, but not enough for moving. You need to get one of your buddies to get a Silverado or Sierra. We're fortunate to have 2 full size pickups in our extended family. I read somewhere that every family should have at least one p/u in the fleet.

Re: Roof Rack Rails?

Well, U-Haul is trying to charge me $100 to rent a little trailer for the Terrain. I already bought the cross rails for the Terrain, and some of those discount GMC accessories websites sell Thule roof top carriers, because GMC has them on their accessory list. I am looking at a Thule 1500 Ascent http://www.thule.com/en/US/Products/...nt%201500.aspx

Thule wants to charge $440 plus shipping (Amazon about the same) but since those GMC accessory sites sell all items on the GMC accessory list for wholesale, they are only charging me $362 shipped www.gmpartsdirect.com

So either spend the $362 and get a cargo carrier every time I need it, or spend $100 on a uhaul every time I need to move to a rotation
