Towing 2010 Equinox

Twice now after towing for 6 hours the Equinox battery is dead and needs a jump. I pulled fuse #32 and I went through the after towing procedure in the owners manual. I have not seen anyone else having this problem, maybe they did short distance tows? I'm thinking of running a 12v charging line from the Motorhome back to the Equinox and not pulling fuse #32, that way the 12v power source in the car will still work, for the Break-buddy. Any one have another suggestion?

No problem for us. We also use the Brake Buddy, plugged into a 12V outlet wired direct to the battery. Key in ACC and pull Fuse #32. Plenty of battery left after a full day of towing.

Re: Towing 2010 Equinox

Is it dead right after you turn the engine off or is it when you leave the vehicle hooked up electrically to the trailer? Sounds like this is either a bad battery or alternator but it could be something else simple like unplugging the trailer wiring harness.

Properly wired there should be no draw on the battery when the vehicle is parked assuming the lights have been turned off. Small trailers ( utility, boat etc) wiring is always suspect. I would doubt its the cars wiring so check or have the trailers wiring checked. Sounds like a short to me.
